Anybody played this yet?

I won't even try to describe what it is, I'm still at the beginning anyway.

Played it, loved it. If you're not sure yet if you want to play, just pirate it. It's not worth it to get spoiled, since it really shines on those moments.

It's awesome, but don't spoil the major plot points which is really hard at this point.

Play it.

the internet has been going wild about this game for the past 2 months (since its release) and has somewhat calmed down again just some weeks ago

The game is very good. Don´t spoil yourself if you want the full experience. Enjoy.

I love the OST already. And yes I'm slow, Biscuit guy convinced me and virtually anything is a spoiler.

I've seen his Top10 list. John Bain has horrible taste in video games. So many team based online crap games...

I really enjoyed it, there's a demo if you want to try before you buy it.

The meme-ish nature, and ann-ee-may-ness was a bit off-putting at times (and even more off-putting in retrospect) but I managed to avoid the hype, went into it completely blind and was pleasantly surprised.

I dunno how well I would've received it if I didn't have a deep nostalgia for Earthbound, easter eggs and enjoying shmups.
And how!

I really like reading about how other people play this game by the way.

His tastes often align with mine, being mechanically-centered and all. So this surprising choice did pique my interest.

Besides, there's a tsunderplane, and annoying dogs.

I really like reading about how other people play this game by the way.

I would advise against that. This isn't SOMA.

I'm also pro game mechanics and don't give two fucks about your average game story and absolutely detest unskippable cinematics. However, after long term exposure to online gaming and having to deal with new generations, I've started avoiding online centered games. Especially games meant for average Joe like these action MOBA games. Nothing against Untertale or Sunless Sea, just commenting on his other choices.

Maybe I'm bit bitter because I'm unable to get my real life friends to play co-op games with me. Only then I find playing those games worthwhile experience.

Playing with my old friends from the cRPG and Planetside 2 communities is fine for me. I don't generally appreciate games that are only playable in coop simply because it's not convenient, but in most cases those few hours are definitely worth it, and I can afford poor value.

John Bain definitely has genres missing in his portfolio. I'm very much interested in puzzle games such as Portal, The Talos Principle or even Antichamber but he's not. In fact, almost anything actually cerebral seems to be outside of his expertise, as the only kind of strategy he seems to play (Starcraft and the like) is more accurately described as Clicking Fast Simulator, not actual strategy.

The OST of this is phenomenal, especially considering it's a one man game
