It's not necessarily about whether he's the official king of England as we know that happened much later it depends on what the Saxons actually called the place. I'd have thought Britanniae or something personally as that's what the Romans called it. Then again didn't the Danes referred to it as land of the aengals or aenglaland so it may not be far off.

Most likely it's changes so people know what they're saying. Like when the place names change from old to modern.

Hell's yes. The Warlord Chronicles are still my favourite Cornwell series. I have read them so many times.

Wouldn't mind a Stonehenge mini-series either.

I finished the latest book about 2 days after it came out so this tv show will have to tide me over

I just watched the first episode. This shit gave me so many high school flashbacks. I hope the rest of the series keeps up with the pilot. I think it's got flaws I wouldn't tolerate in another story/genre, but I'm in this all the way.

Addendum: Anyone get the gayest moment in the Uhtred aging transition? I thought that was a fine ass back, and then boom! facial hair.

Finally got around to watching episode 5 last night. I'm starting to enjoy the characters more but I still think Alfred is a terrible actor. Other than that, I'm starting to have a better feeling about the show overall. It was a good episode.
