This is a case of:

Normal price: £180

MASSIVE SALE!!!: £730 £180

I can buy same CPU for 220eur here, and its not on a discount.

Also, it's an AMD CPU...
Their GPU's are great, I got one myself, but I'd not go for a CPU when you could get an intel one.

Literally no other place asks more than ~300eur for that thing. I'm amazed AMD would pull something like this and even more so that someone would just throw 180 pounds at the screen without doing as much as a google search

They're much cheaper tho, and with dx 12 they get a massive boost apperantly as intel, and the bottleneck problems disappear. 8350 should do for all gpus after dx 12 most likely

If I'm not mistaken that CPU can pull 250W. Would stay away from it, discount or not.

As for DX12 helping out AMD CPUs to catch up with Intel, early tests so far haven't shown any of that.

As intel I meant intel aswell gets boosted, dx 12 benefits all cpus not only amd sorry. Im just saying if you were rightly worried an amd cpu would bottleneck a high end gpu before, with dx 12 reduces the risk

It's probably not AMD themselves doing it, but some smaller shop in the UK with AMD in stock, and no greater connection. This kind of stuff happens all the time on Amazon since it's really hard to see who you are actually buying from.

Same with "only 2 in stock" etc, while they have warehouses full of that item.

The reviews for items are also all over the place since one of the companies working with Amazon might sell the item OK but another is paddling crap and Amazon piles the reviews together.

I didn't even buy it in the end. Went for the i7 4790k 4GHz with GTX 980 might go for the 980ti, or save some and go for the R9 390x and get 16GB DDR3

Good choice. Both GTX 980 and R9 390x should last you well into the future.

AMDs DX12 future looks a little better at the moment btw.

R9 390x with AMD DX12 seems like the smart choice atm

might have to wait and see though
