what is with this pervasive "new players" myth? have there been any confirmed sightings? what kinds of numbers are we talking about here? like, one new player every month or so? not worth fucking up upwards of DOZENS of old players' experiences to accommodate these mystical snowflakes

There are no new players so we shouldn't appeal to them, genius. The point of making the game better for new players is so we can attain them. Instead of not having new players and a declining population, and yes there have been new players, I don't know how many there are and how many have already gone. But there have in fact been new players.

In terms of looms you can be still a new player after years of respeccing or altplaying.
to catch up with veterans you need 5 to 7 looms for each of your alts.
this takes for ever( if you are not using big clan armouries or marketmagic) I play since 2.5 years and only have 8 +3's.
Unfortunately non of them fit my favourite alt right now. so I have to play without looms.
So conciddering this I think there are a lot of  loomwise " newplayers"

uh yeah, if there in fact aren't any new players then there would be nothing to appeal to. changing mechanics wouldn't suddenly make them appear, if they weren't appearing in the first place. but if they are appearing, and being scared off specifically because of looms, that's a different story. but somehow, i doubt that a +number on an item here or there is what scares them off, as opposed to the +5 years of experience most other players have over them. if you wanna nerf anything, nerf your years worth of nerdy no life skills. looms or no looms, they're gonna get dominated. that should be pretty obvious.

or get used to the fact that everything dies, and your'e not gonna vampire your way through crpg by "attaining" the blood of young virgins

Fuck yes, but just make base stats the +3 version, because we all know that is where the balance is at. I would love not having to dick around with an armoury every time I want to switch class, you know, for that one time I will actually play in the next two months.

I like looms, removing them would make the game dull. Its kind of silly, but it just feels like the items are special somehow, and collecting looms is a neat time waste. Dont remove plx

I mean, I've been playing since 2010 and I only have 12 looms but I never really feel like I need full +3 everything. I can run around with +0 gear and still stomp on some people who have full +3 gear.

I'm new and I have only the starter loomed items.
I don't QQ about it, I pull up my big-boy panties and farm like everyone else did to get theirs.
Taking away looms takes away my goal to get epic gear like everyone else, and the game loses half of the reason to play it.
