God, thinking of all these games brings back a lot of memories. They also made me think of arcades which I haunted back in the day. Here is my top 3 arcade games of all time:

Golden Axe: This game was revolutionary for 1989.

The first Sonic on Megadrive! I could achieve the first levels in 29 seconds making the score counter go crazy! you had to precisely jump at some places to achieve that!

and then of course all the sonics on megadrive!
I even had the sonic & Knuckles (sonic 4 on megadrive) that would open on the top so you could add another cartridge and play knuckles in sonic 2!......sonic fans will understand what I'm talking about.

epic music is epic. This is officialy what i listen to when i charge into battle with my horse now!  8-)

feeling invincible on the battlefield with this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTf_n6bHFj4&feature=related

Megadrive? I was under the impression that it was called Genisis...Anyways!

I did own(still do somewhere) pretty much all of the Sonic games, so yes I do know what you mean by the double cartridge!  :P

Battletoads - Just because I recently found my copy again!

Blades of Steel : 1987 ~ I wish I still had it :(

There's videos of people on youtube beating the final mission in one turn, its disgusting.  I never even got mind control.  I think I had 2 dudes trained to use it, and even then, I just used heavy plasma, haha.

Blades of Steel is godlike, especially the voice samples.

I beat X-com back in the day, the funniest thing about X-com was once you discovered psionics all your best guys had extremely low ratings in it, my very best guy had 0 defense against it lol

Imy last mission only my best guy ended up being alive,  Almost immediately my Elite psionics crew was wiped from the battle lol, he walked into the final command room(I didn't know it was the command room), some alien shot him, he auto-turned and killed that guy, the enemy commander then panicked and dropped his weapon, killed that guy and saw the outline of the "Brain", shot that out of reflex....

and Cutscene of victory lol, epic game, unfortunately Terror from the deep wasn't actually made by the same designers(they didn't feel like paying them) and ended up sucking more (actually had a never fixed bug where if u interrogated an enemy base commander too early in the tech tree you couldn't win the game lol)

I see people saying Ultima Online was the first MMORPG, this is actually not true, I believe the first graphical MMORPG was closer to something like Shadows of Yserbius on The Sierra Network (younger folks remember this incorrectly as the TEN network), even the Dark Sun MMORPG predates Ultima Online..........

really the first multiplayer role playing games were the MUDs (Multi-User Dungeons) text games............

similar to games like Legend of the Green Dragon/Trade Wars played on Bulletin Board Systems way before the World Wide Web was truly accessible to so many...........these games had all the elements of a MMORPG(multiple players influencing the game, leveling, items, etc) just limited/no graphics(or ASCII graphics)

I used to play Trade Wars/Legend of the Green Dragon all the time, and so many other games I can't remember the names of back before Microsoft Windows even existed against all sorts of people on Bulletin Board Systems, I even remember games were players from Different BBS's were playing against each other

(some kind of world war III game was like that, can't remember the name of it)

Greed is for amateurs...Chaos, Disorder, Anarchy now that's fun!

Yeah once you get mind control the game gets very boring. I always get a blast doing the first 2-3 mission , separating my guys by squads and clearing one building at a time, waiting on the corner of the door, listening if at the end of the round there's any door opening or shot fired... but as soon as you get the hover tanks and blaster, you leave all your guys in the Avenger and get sick of doing battles, you just crash the UFOs in the water :P

As for blade of steel , I wish I still had it :( The fights were the best :P

Either battling zombies in the slums of Neverwinter, or slaughtering trolls out in the deep woods, this is for sure one of the best RPG's I've ever played. This game not only got me hooked on the pc at the time, but also is what first created TheDashingRogue.

Bah!

What is it with people and not using actual names for their D&D characters, I don't get it!  :| :| :|

At least NWN2 allowed me to somewhat create my Warlock, but without a lot of his original awesomeness!
