I don't remember the brands, but I've sampled a certain type of beer and some kind of wine. Didn't like either. Neither I liked the taste of very much and don't plan on testing the variety. Now that I think about it flavor is a silly reason not to drink when there is probably plenty of different flavors. Either way I don't plan on drinking anything with alcohol in it anyway. I guess you could say the initiate dislike kept me away from it and I now plan to keep it that way, that is more of what I meant.

Taste of what? 100% alcohol? Pale lager? Dark lager? White wine? Red wine? Liqueurs? Vodka? Tequila? Whiskey? Cognac? Brandy? Numerous cocktails? Ciders? Too many different kinds to put them under one umbrella.

Yeah I dislike the taste of pale lager but adore glass of fine red wine.

Alcohol itself has a very distinct taste that is clearly present in any drink of 5% or more, you get used to it. What he says makes sense for anyone that hasn't drank much alcohol.

Dont you reach your final height around 16-18? That's kinda the age you should start binge-drinking anyway so as long as you drink infrequently or sensible amounts until you're 16/18 you should already have reached your final height.
