So how is the game overall? How does the driving feel?

Awesome feel, at least on the early cars. Best rally game I've played by far, and it has some actually interesting persistent elements in career mode like Grid did.

Jesus fuck im struggling with the 80s car like I've never sat behind a wheel before and then you see this video

I take it you bought it then. Maybe you're just bad. In any case, using a gamepad or keyboard is limiting.

That said, Bidno Moorland is fucking brutal and that guy is a beast.

I plundered it. Maybe I am bad. Well tbh I've only done two races so far, still getting used to the feel of the car. And yeah I'm using a keyboard. Also, is shifting supposed to be this slow on the 80s cars? Whenever I have to go from 3rd gear to reverse it takes forever.

My guess would be that 80's cars still have the H-scheme as gearbox which is significantly slower than a sequential one...

Besides, getting the R is tricky. Sometimes I have to properly stop the car and then release and hit backwards again to get it shifted.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

I was wondering if it was a keyboard thing or whatever... The problem is that every time you shift to lower (or higher) your guy needs to complete his animation before the game allows you to shift to lower once more. Just feels slow and if you need to stop fast and go from 3rd gear to reverse for example, you're left sitting there for a few sec shifting to reverse. Shouldn't you be able to shift from 3rd directly to reverse with H-gearbox? :/ Isn't how I described this behaviour exactly how a sequential gearbox works, except that the real one is much faster I presume.

Maybe it's a settings thing, with keyboard the only option I had was either automatic, semi-auto or sequential, I believe.

I didn't check myself but can you configure a dedicated key directly for reverse?

Edit:
Hmm...

It's Mario Kart Wii!

Inferior control scheme plebs. If you play with sequential shifting (the only option that makes sense if you don't have an H shifter), the gearbox will always be working sequentially i.e. you can only switch from one speed to the lower one or the higher one. If when you drive cars that physically have H-shifters the guy is doing the whole shifting before letting you shift again, it's just the game telling you to buy the necessary equipment to play the game properly. It's the first racing game I played that has somewhat realistic stalling, and that's awesome.

Well not really, I could as well just use my numpad for shifting into desired gear for example, no need to do it sequentally on keyboard.

Guess so. Also wow, what a change when you're driving on ice/snow. Without traction control your tires slide off like fuck, with a little speed you can slide out of turns so easily.. loved it

EDIT: Just drove my first Bidno Moorland, this track is devastating
EDIT2: Bought a Peugot 205 T16 Evo2... I can't handle this car... at all.

The faster the cars get, the more often I am ditching it :D

Going from the Mini to the Kadett already gave me huge trouble, not to mention the time I needed to get along with RWD.

Can a XBOX 360 controller be used efficiently with this game?

I'm playing with one. All the buttons and knobs work if that is the question.

Do you feel you lose precision compared to keyboard/mouse or is it better? Or only better in some aspects, worse in other... I want to know if its going to be possible to be really skilled at driving with an xbox  controller, 'cause I hate keyboard for car games (especially hardcore car games like this one, gonna use FPS view etc!) and I also hate not winning :P

This.

Gamepad is way above driving with a keyboard. That is a simple fact. Always has been.
You get analog pedal control and analog steering control - both just not possible with a keyboard.
