i have a theory that the heirlooms may slowly drop in price, or just never be bought... as it stands i tend to see the same items in the market for the same price. The only time i see things sell is MW for 300k or along those lines of 400k and less for heirlooms.
The purpose of wearing plate has become nothing more than crippling yourself to look like a knight... or maybe its my lack of athletics

Probably.  There were a bunch of people propping up prices when they first came out as they looked for the exact heirloom they wanted.  A lot of people found what they were looking for adn a lot of people way overpayed (750K+) for heirlooms thinking prices could only go up (kind of like the real estate bubble), but the fundamental buyers have mostly disappeared so eventually prices will have to correct to the uninflated market rate or just not sell at all.
