Dafuq. Afaik there has never been one for Ebola. And swineflu is for like elders and dehydrated, mexicants. You basically bragged about something comparable to walking.

Don't take this away from me.

Interesting indeed.
But we still need some kind of fee(taxation) for public utilities, defense spending, social safety net.

This actually made me question the assumption: "Generalized tax rates as a fraction of total profit/assets is a good idea"
After reading this I realized... I was too complacent with what I thought was best that I stopped keeping my eyes and mind open for something that possibly is better.

The info is still fresh so I'll get back to you after some proper analysis and if I have any criticism of this model.

Anyways, we still need some sort of fee or tax rate depending on how much you own. For example: Taxes based on your property (based on size, not value) that goes to the fire departments, Fees for your cars based on weight and mileage left on average for that model(not car value!) that goes to road maintenance etc. etc. etc.
Did you read the comment section as well? If not, I recommend doing so, since there's criticism and counter-arguments to those criticisms there.
Meaning lies as much
in the mind of the reader
as in the Haiku.

I will do that later, I still need to form my own proper opinion on it first.
I really don't like to rush it though, I'll let the first read and re-read sink in first then establish my own reservations properly. It's no light subject for  someone like me that doesn't have any formal education in this field, and I really don't like the risk of being "seduced" in to agreeing with eloquent "nay"or "yay" sayers just after reading it for the first time.

Land value is nothing compared to financial assets. There's little point taxing only real estate if the intent is reducing inequality.

Reducing inequality will never happen in USA. Americans are scared shitless of anything too socialistic for some reason and thats why a lot of people there will forever be stuck in the circle of poverty. As far as I can tell, the anti-socialistic propaganda has done its job rather well there. Anyone even remotely mentioning the word will be stamped as a commie.

I have nothing against vaccines, I just don't want them. If I was ever planning on going somewhere that would give me a sickness or disease I would probably take a vaccination. The odds on me going somewhere where I could get a disease or sickness that isn't easily treatable is very unlikely though.

Long story short, I just don't want vaccines to be mandatory.

This whole argument is entirely ignorant and does not even compare to what I am saying

Do you breath when visiting any public area?
Does your skin touch anything when in a public area?
Do you visit any public area when you have a fresh wound(it doesn't even have to bleed, just a gash in the skin)?

ANY public area is a potentially dangerous place, especially airports, train stations bu stop etc. with international(foreign) destinations.
Your statement "I just don't want them" rubbed me the wrong way and I overreacted, I know that, and you are correct there.

BUT it sounded(read?) like a casual dismissal of all the risks, which is the worst kind when it comes to global risks such as these.

Your stance is sensible if you do not frequent public areas in a large city(which I probably wrongly assumed).

I just wonder one thing: If there is a real risk(several independet experts) for a pandemic outbreak, would you take the vaccine if it was voluntary AND free of charge?

With this clarification in mind: my statement was not entirely ignorant and compares, at worst, remotely.

He makes a good point if you completely forget about patrimonial inequality, which in the real world is a real problem and what I was talking about to begin with. Taxes in most developed countries today effectively work like that: you only pay tax on what you effectively consume, hence top fortunes are sometimes taxed at less than 0.01% of their economic revenue, because their fiscal revenue is tiny in comparison. Lord Droon has much more power than he should. Due to all these parchments he can influence the King. And he could also quit his job entirely as his parchments can very well support his lifestyle at this point, transforming him into dead weight for society.

Besides, real estate these days is about as virtual as financial assets so I don't see the point to make such a distinction.

Guys, guys... McDeath's basement is protected by one of those nifty air filter fans. It is one thousand percent guaranteed to filter out all microbes, dust, and bacteria, and will deploy high-intensity 100kW lasers to obliterate any detected viruses floating around the area. So long as he never leaves his basement, he has nothing to fear. Rumor has it that he can't even catch autism in his basement (but based on some posts of his, this is questionable)!

One of my professors had proposed a "luxury-based tax" somewhat similar to this. However instead of necessarily taxing property, which can be regarded as a good thing (after all, people do kinda need a roof over their head, and means of transportation if there is no publicly available options), he suggested taxing humans' "bad habits." For instance you should get taxed on your garbage disposal, car emissions, power consumption, etc. This would drive people to purchase fully electric/hybrid cars to avoid gas taxes, or solar panels/wind mills to avoid electricity taxes (which come from dirty coal-burning power plants), and also recycle more. The aim here is obviously to help put an end to humans poisoning the earth and all environmentally friendly stuff. Of course you can also tax things like alcohol, cigarettes (even more than the current rate), and the stereotypical rich-guy luxuries like the previously mentioned yachts or fancy sports cars and such. Obviously this may not be the most sustainable source of income for a government, seeing how if everyone suddenly adopted these new technologies and ceased buying luxury items (as unlikely as that scenario is), there would be little money left for the government to take out of your pocket.

I still want an answer to this.

Yes please.

Obamacare? Lol, among other reasons. I imagine a quick google search or a quick flip through the channels to a not-100%-liberal agenda news station would answer this question.

Obama is part of a reptilian race of creatures that have been living underground for millions of years. Pretty soon the entire race of lizard people will awaken and take over the world.
