I haven't done jack shit but have over 200 battles in the 7 months i've been playing, whereas you've provided like what 4? I may have not been active before hand but i've done more in 7 months than you've ever done based on everything I know of past strats from mercing in every single one since Strat 1.

Looks like I hit a nerve.  So you've personally provided 200 battles?  7 months... figure 30 days per month, that's 210 days, and in those 210 days you've PROVIDED 200 battles.  Oh, you didn't provide them?  Oh, you participated in them?  Got the participation trophy for them?  Not quite as magnificent, but ok.  Now let's remove the amount of battles that were afk fief transfers...  Or perhaps just fief transfers in general.  I know you've participated in a lot of those...

My how your number keeps dropping.  So um, what have you done again?  Not your faction... you.  And if you're going to count participation, well, trust me, I've had my fair share.  Just cause you don't see the name 'Moonshine' on the roster, doesn't mean I'm not there.  I had decided that if Astralis wasn't an active ally, or enemy, pseudonym was the best course of action.  That way I could merc for one side, then the other, and not really get hounded battle after battle.

Also since November you could easily have another 1400 man shiny army. As a solo player you'd make roughly 720 troops a month, so you should have almost a 8,000 man army by now not a 200 man. And the reason I didn't start playing strat until it was "easy mode" was because thats when someone messaged me and asked my to join their faction. I would've started playing earlier if someone had asked me too, I just didn't want to play solo and was too lazy to look for and join a faction.

You must have missed the part where I took a few months off.  So the troop count drops dramatically, and I go for periods where I may hit the point and click button on the map, but it doesn't mean I'll log into NA1.  I play other games.  I go on vacations.  And I have a life.  Plus, unless I was planning on getting involved in strat, I didn't really care if I clicked 'enter a crime ridden fief' or if I chose to park right outside it.  Amazing how many troops can be lost if you're in a fief for a few hours.  But oh well.  You are correct though... the army could be bigger.  I can afford it too, but at some point, an army is lost from flag cap rather than troop death.  I'm sure you'll feel that pain at some point.  Smaller armies are easier to recover from.  :-)

If I attack peoples fiefs and they dont hire people to defend, how is that in any way my fault lmao. I showed up geared and ready for a battle, they hired no one in defense and just practically gave up their fiefs. I don't see how that is me being bad at the game.

The problem here Bryggan is that while Doom Carrot had many offers on the table, to either join factions or simply receive free fiefs, he chose the one that put him in a sticky situation. I don't think anyone but him could know what was going through his head when he decided to do a 180 and ally with his supposed "enemies," but when he did he lost any support he could have easily had from moonshine/astralis, LL, berzerks, and any other "free agents" such as HoC (the reason he lost the assistance of free agents is not because we are necessarily at war with HCE, but more often than not they are not the ones needing roster assistance). Now that Doom Carrot accepts an allegiance with HCE, he also knowingly gets involved in their wars, and well, he was given a free fief that "belonged" to someone else, someone you were at war with. There was no way that LL or others would simply let him be because he didn't fly your exact colors, you were allies. There was also no way to know that he would be so unprepared for an attack. He has been on strat for a while, and yes, he's new, but since he did hop aboard the HCE train perhaps he was given gear, or maybe the fief had some laying around, no way to know for sure.

And for the record, here's my tale of this morning's fight: I spoke to Moonshine lastnight telling him there was a small chance I would be around for the battle, and if so I'd merc for him to fight against shitty nighttime settings. Well, come a quarter of 5, I booted up my computer and saw the rosters. I applied to Doom Carrot instead, figuring it wouldn't do much good but might prolong the battle by a few seconds, with 10 minutes to spare. Time passed, and since I was actually awake with my computer on and all, I didn't want to miss this fight. So with 2 minutes to go, I applied to both sides. Moonshine grabbed me a minute before the fight started. I can't say for sure if others were in a similar position, but being new, apparently DC didn't realize that last minute applications exist, and it could have cost him. However, while I did get a couple kills, I didn't really do my team much good as I sincerely hit teammates over the head more often than enemies... just luckily for me our side had thicker armor. Lesson learned, don't hire me at such ridiculous hours, maybe DC was on to something here...

Btw, unless this strat is different from previous ones, only defenders without gear get free peasant equipment. This means that your attack is ill-fated and I'm fairly certain you will spawn naked with no weapons other than your fists.  :?

Just want to make a slight correction here. Moonshine, while he could probably get Astralis to sign for him easily, he is not Me(AKA Astralis now it seems). Most Astralis is Merc not strat oriented now.

Actually, I checked at the last minute, and hired 4 more people, but 3 of them dissapeared when I hired them, and went to the other teams side. I don't really know how that happened but it did. And it was only 4 dudes anyways, wouldn't have made any difference  :|

Four dudes would have made all the difference. The final roster was 18v9, exactly 2:1. Had you snagged those 4 guys, it would have brought the rosters to 14v13, and with the defensive advantage you could have held out a lot longer than you did, if not manage to outright outlast the attackers completely due to being able to pick up their dropped weapons. The reason why some guys you hired ended up on the other side is that you didn't refresh the webpage recently enough. If you are lingering on the recruitment page for a while, then potential mercs for hire might have already been hired by the other side if they applied to both. Or maybe you didn't linger on the page at all, and you just happened to get ninja'd.

The problem with this fight wasn't the rosters.  It was the time.  There's no back and forth number crunching.  It becomes a matter of 'Get the most people signed up, and pray people are awake at the time of the battle.'  it's not like a prime time battle where you can look at the Steam list and say, 'Great fight about to happen, want in?'

Now if you want to know the reasoning blah blah...

For this I forgive the rosters.  Obviously anyone who is going to stay up til that time is doing so with a purpose; not just to see if any side happens to need a merc for a village battle (except Jona obviously).

Also I never accused Moonshine for his roster- he's obviously not going to donate his well armed army just to make a new guy happy.  The guy usually is a gentleman, but him and I have agreed to disagree on whether he was being a dick for attacking Doom Carrot within 15 minutes of him getting it.  I think he was, and he thinks he wasn't.

But I also didn't know about the pms he got.  While I was trying to ensure DC's neutrality, he was telling Moonshine he was allied with us- trying to scare him.  Bad move.

But, while I don't know what Tristan said, giving the 'new guy' a fief in enemy territory made sense.  He already claimed to be an enemy of ours in the forums, so obviously we wouldn't want him in our lands.  But Dutchy didn't do anything about Dashbigha for four weeks.  It seemed like he didn't care.  So, to let a guy was going to roster against us anyways have a village we couldn't use seemed to make sense.

But I guess the important thing is that Doom Carrot learned that shitty nighttime settings piss people off.  So, for all you noobs- night time settings is just a name- set your nightime settings for during the day if at all.

Oh, and I see this little fiasco has woken Dutchy up.  Wish he told me he was going to blitz us, otherwise I would have changed my plans for this evening... or maybe he did.  I slept 2 hours before going to work the day before yesterday, so yesterday I came home and slept and slept and slept.  Stupid late night battles!
