Having seen the movies before reading the books it made me happy when i read the part when saruman industrialized shire, and sad when it wasnt included in the movies. Also Christopher Lee was apparently the only one who actually had met tolkien from all the people working on the movies. And he sings in some metal songs

Christopher Lee is truly an amazing man. Another trivia I heard of him was that when he was being advised by Peter Jackson about how to act when he gets stabbed by Grimma in the movie, he explained that since he served as a commando in WW2, he knows exactly how a stabbed man acts.
