HTC VIVE priced at 799! Pre-orders start next Monday.

900 euros ffs. Don't think this VR revolution will last long. If Sony really release its thing for 450 USD, RIP PC VR gaming.

We'll see. Don't like any of them tbh. Too big, too heavy, too expensive, too demanding, too many cables, imperfect. Don't think this will fly but we'll see. Industry usage is obvious though.

The very fact this went viral thanks to chubby dude's campaign on worlds biggest nostalgia selling site is enough of alarm. Bought by Facebook, company which i won't even dare to explain. Fat and greedy Gabe wants his share of the cake. Then Sony and HTC... every actor in this play stinks.

Sony filled for patent, new type of motion controller. Guess what it is? Powerglove 2.0... which means this is another round of 3D glasses type of craze, resurrecting old tech making it bit better and selling to new kids. No killer app yet, at least 3D had Avatar. Will die out in 5 years from now and close the circle. See ya in 20 years with brand new and improved HMD...

So, Happy VIVE Pre-Order Day!

But I've decided to hold off on the pre-order for now, because well, there just isn't much content available for it yet.

Great price. Wonder will those gloves come bundled with it or released sometimes next year. 350$ for console + 450$ for HMD equals 750$ which is less than price of Vive VR.

I think I can get a 4k, 100hz curved 34 inch monitor for the same price as these 1st gen VR sets.

Its not that I dont want both. but VR headset will never be used as much as regular monitor, so if I was going to blow a bunch of money it makes no sense to buy VR yet.

Hyped for VR but cant see myself buying one in the next few years :(

You can't, but close enough, for 800 euros you can get a very good gaming monitor, and granted it would be extremely stupid to buy a VR headset before having that.

They want to sell those juicy licenses. No way that HMD is breaking even, if the other players are to be believed. But no matter, as long as the experience is good. Yet I have strong doubts about that on the PS4.
