I laughted in surprise when the mum appeared in the song, I loved that voice so much in that patch back then

A really good sounding alternative to pro equipment would be one of those zoom recorders. You can connect them via USB, they're not that expensive, they've got good mics and record stereo.

Most ppl in the video section use them if they want a quick but good recording of lets say an interview or some athmospheric sounds.

edit:... Hang on I'll write some tips about how to improve your quality and what equipment to buy as well as a low budget - no budget alternative
