I wouldn't be surprised if there were persistent characters. I'd hope the default bannerlord is good enough not to require much tinkering.

Would be nice if Bannerlord was so good, but when I look at the start of Viking Conquest I lose some of my hope already :P

Apparently Taleworlds will be focusing on singleplayer (which is really stupid IMO but hey).

The thing I miss in Warband multiplayer is the customisation of characters and looming and buying weapons.

Join any Warband Server and you will feel like a turtle, everything except archery is boringly slow. Everyone can easily get a kill there as archer or couche lance cav.
These are main points for keeping new players, not like cRPG where you need high skills at any class to get kills. (k/d  1/12 does not count.... )

So...I don't think this will change in bannerlord...  cRPG was made for experienced players with higher skills.
I havent seen any peasant in cRPG so far who wasnt killed immediately like 50 times before he could take down another lowbie.
Maybe if Coronoa virus gets rid of 50 percent or more of the world population we can do without a pope and religion.

Which doesn't mean Bannerlord won't at least have the same multiplayer as Warband. Which is for most people everything they want.

cRPG was great when it was started because it was different but after all the balancing work where nothing was really balanced because, despite their best efforts and time spent on polishing this mod, balancers of this mod aren't professionals and actually spent less time testing different systems compared to TaleWorlds balancers (many things that were tweaked in cRPG for realism, although devs say because of balance, are there in native for a bloody good reason). If cRPG is about to get reborn in Bannerlord it better be the original, so called "unbalanced" version because it is different from vanilla game.

I've got different experience. After all the changes they did over the years, all the cruft added on top of original mechanics, beside nudge which enriches the gameplay and maybe that broken roll (even though game is designed in a way so that you are invulnerable for few seconds after you fall from horse), I have a feeling that game was actually dumbed down and made more casual.

Not everybody in cRPG is a pro, FOTM build and armor will make him seem like a pro. Differences between players are smaller in cRPG compared to native. In native I can never lose to a newbie, in cRPG I actually can. In native I can hardly beat slightly more skilled and experienced player than I am, in cRPG that happens all the time.

Yes, everybody is moving slowly in cRPG compared in native but there is a good reason for that. It makes other things more important, for example footwork (pressing S and rolling like fool just because you have 10 athletics isn't footwork) becomes very important and actual attacking/blocking mechanics come to spotlight. And everybody of the same class move at the same speed (differences between various armor are tiny).

Due to all the added factors, large range of various builds, much more equipment which behaves differently and has huge impact on said builds cRPG is VERY INCONSISTENT module. You cannot possibly balance all those variables, it is a lost game from the very start and every time you raise level range it becomes even harder task (as we can see since Patch fo Destiny). Not to mentioned that extra code obviously have negative effects on servers.

I have 1,000+ hours logged in SP and 1200+ logged in just cRPG. I like both MP and SP of M&B a lot, and I'd rather they focus on both than just on the SP campaign but it'll be cool to see how much they can do with it. What they've shared so far has been fueling my erection for the last few months. Really hoping Viking Conquest isn't an indicator of what a new M&B game is going to be like(but it was made by a different group than TaleWorlds so, hope is still in the air).

Can you make a list?

Blood and Steel: Sort of high fantasy, you can start with insane stats if you play barbarian(63str and 63ag) and just run around the battlefield at lightspeed with a two hand massacring everything. Pretty fun, its kind of like M&B on crack. Definitely recommend playing on Mommy difficulty if you want any challenge
A New Dawn: The coolest feature this one has is that throughout the course of the game theres a chance of minor factions popping up, sieging other factions castles and forming new factions. Don't really remember other features
A Clash of Kings: Probably one of the most famous ones, its a Game of Thrones/ASOIAF mod. Its pretty fun, theres a bunch of new features.
Perisno: A complete overhaul. Too many features to list. Definitely worth a check out
Nova Aetas: A mod set I think like 500 years after the first game. The factions have been redone, the map has some new cities and some of the old ones are gone. You can found colonys and stuff, theres a new faction based on Native Americans, they revamped the economy, a complete new diplomacy/kingdom management thing that is pretty sweet, and they added guilds and stuff you can join.
Sword of Damocles: Warlords: I dont know if this one has been updated in a while, but it is a pretty cool one. Adds 6 new factions. Expands the native map by a ton. Loads of new features. Port of Sword of Damocles from the orig M&B if you played that.
Floris Mod Pack: Basically takes a bunch of different parts of mods and mashes them all together. Its pretty fun, its a lot harder than basic native IMO.
Light and Darkness: Easily the best SP story mode mod in all of M&B. It blows Viking Conquest out of the water IMO. Only chapter 1 is out right now but they are still working on Chapter 2. It is originally a chinese mod but theres an English translation. Its not great, but its readable and the broken english actually adds some charm to the game. One of the features is your companions shout stuff out when they do things on the battle field and I remember cracking up when Marnid shouted "DON'T BLOCK WITH HEAD! FOOL!" after getting a kill.
Native Expansion: This mod aims to expand native without making it too different. I never really liked it too much but if you enjoyed native(which I don't really) then you'd like it a lot.

Link above is to a website that has a bunch of links with short descriptions to mods on it. Only the people who added them to the database are on there. Other great sites to check are the ModDB, the taleworlds forums, and the Nexus.

Why you ask, are there any news on Bannerlord?

Imo pointless to discuss unless we know anything about how Bannerlord multiplayer will look like.
