that's a big if, considering how popular it already seems to be, and how dumbed down people have been conditioned to be. there's no going back to cool shit, we've progressed past the point of deep gameplay

I own nothing next-gen, and I've gone off shooters in general anyway although I loved the first 2 Battlefronts back in the day. End result is that I wont get this game no matter how good or bad it is.

Unpopular opinion - Saw some youtube vids of the new Battlefront from beta, it actually looks pretty good.

Maybe cos I never played any Battlefield games so am not tempted to say 'OMG it's just a reskinned Battlefield!', to me it just looks like a next gen Battlefront. Doesn't look like it's 'lost the Star Wars soul' at all.

I love the death animations and sounds, the rifles/lasers sound and look much more solid than in the old Battlefronts, this pleases me. Havent seen any multiplayer yet with the bullshit jump-jets, they might be annoying. The old games had that too tho, and bullshit rolling/sprint-jumps from the basic infantry that made the battlefield very un-starwarsy (tho i'm sure it's super-realistic).

I was as ready as anyone for the hate bandwagon (especially since I don't plan on playing it even if it's really good), and I love talking about how modern remakes of games i'm nostalgic about fall short, however this one may not be so bad. It certainly seems extremely Star Warsy, and at least at the noob level I was seeing on youtube, it looks a lot more like you're in a genuine firefight from the original trilogy.

The game can be decent if you're new to shooters or don't have many demands, and of course if you're a huge star wars fan. So if you're looking to just mindlessly shoot some storm troopers, then it's alright. If you're looking for something more from a shooter then this is not it.

Bottom line, no one would play it if it wasn't for Star Wars theme. But it is Star Wars game, so knock yourself out.

PS. Luke Skywalker looks hilariously bad. Reminds me why it is bad idea to put him in video games, they never did him right.

Well that's the point it's actually designed to be much, much worse than the late Battlefields. Stripped of most content and all but the baseline shooter mechanics and casualized to the bone (like, pick ups, seriously?).

I expected battlefront, instead I found a simplified battlefield.
Glad I didn't pre-order.

I did however enjoy myself initially, though it got pretty dull fast.
Visually stunning, great sounds and typical EA gameplay.

I'll keep an eye on it to see if it changes with full release/future patches.
But I doubt I'll buy this, unless considerably discounted.


EDIT:
Played a bit more today, enjoyed myself.
Explored more of the game, mainly the larger map walker defense mode. After getting used to the spawn points and progression, I started to enjoy it.
It has just enough of a battlefront feel to make me change my mind about it.

I probably still won't buy day one or anything silly, but I'm going to watch this more closely.

Seen that few days ago. What I don't understand is why they made him wear that gay black garb? Shouldn't he wear white winter outfit like in the movies when he was on Hoth? He may have force with him, but that doesn't mean he can't catch cold.

Yeah, forgot about DLCs... they probably have chosen this monstrosity as default, because it makes him look like he's Sith or something. Better outfits and skins will be sold for five bucks a piece.
