The Zhuge Nu wasn't very powerful itself, but it would obvious be scary if hundreds or thousands of them were flying at you at once.

1stCR, we even dressed up like Chinese soldiers. If only we have Zhuge Nu. Then we could just sit in an alley somewhere, point our xbows and wait until someone pops up. BLAM. Actually it'd be more like FWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOPFWOOP

Why would we need repeating crossbows? If you wanna fire fast just use a bow.

I mean, have you seen this?

Due to stun from getting hit by a projectile, a repeating crossbow would be broken as fuck.

Projectiles only stun when doing a certain amount of damage though, so long as the max damage output would be below that it would be too bad.

It was designed to counter cav and not infantary althought it was discovered to be against against the chinese enemies(mongols) since they used very light armor. If it would be added it would serve the purpose of enabling crossbows to be better at close range against any kind of enemies, althought we must take note that the accuracy of this weapon was complete shit and reloading the bolt holder would take a lot of time.Plus if you put it to 2 points people will wave to make sure they don t use all bolts on the game.

hard to implement in terms of balance and mechanics, because to be historically accurate, it would require a poison mechanic and 0 armor penetration against medium and heavy armor
also hard to implement because it would require new animations

This isn't reasons why it would fail. This is a what if thread. What if, instead of failing, you made it succeed. Doctors won't approve this miracle crossbow.

This was the idea behind my 12/24 or 12/27 chinese crossbowman, Hou_Yi_and_his_Demon_Machine  8-)

High WPF with light or regular crossbow gives insane fast reload time in crpg. It isn't quite as fast as native crossbows, but compared to heavy xbpw or arbalest it's lightning fast. You can afford to wear the heavier Chinese armors with it as well - your WPF is high enough to negate penalties from armor weight.

Try it if you like crossbows. Even in today's metagame with high armor you can get a few kills and actually use all your bolts every round. It's much easier to get valor this way than with an arbalest sniper.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

also there is a Chinese repeating crossbow in some singleplayer M&B mods. You can fire a couple bolts before reloading. Time between shots is slow, but faster than manual reload speed. Reloading a "pack" of bolts takes a long time, like reloading an arbalest in CRPG.
