The only possible way to promote the game left.

GAMESCOM
Polish the game. Make a playable stronghold mode. Give us the thing. Get a big-ass medieval tent and set it up in the middle of GAMESCON. Bring a server and 8 computers. Get a barrel full of ale, then put all this into the tent.
1. community gets on the server from wherever they are
2. people start coming into the tent
3. ???
4. PROFIT

??? - You have two random austrian girls standing in front of the tent, I don't care if it's chadz sister and her friend, just make sure they have nice jugs.
One of them is facing the people coming into the tent, she gives them a hug and a badge.
The second one has a small box(you need a lot of them) and asks for a donation for development. If they don't donate she will take the badge(cause it has a code that will grant them a download)

This is about being straight out retarded. Children see in slow motion like owls.

I'm sure that setting all that up in a major games con will take no time or money that could better be used for making the game.

Nice idea but maybe better to see if they can make a playable release first of all.

Gamescom booth cost a ton. E3 booth is out of reach for most game dev companies, only major publishers can afford it, no indie games in there unless they are sponsored by the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA, Activision.

Plus gamescon would be viable as most of the devs seem to live in or around Germany anyways.

If it isn't clear, they just borrow all the stuff, with the exception of ale, obviously.
EDIT: The prices are terrible, but maybe they could set it up outside or something, I mean it's a tent

That whole idea would consume all the funding they would get on that day...

also, Gamescom is terribly, terribly crowded and overrun every year. It´s only nice when you´ve got a special ticket for the 2 press days before the whole sweaty crowd arrives.

That's kinda the point, sweaty people like beer and have spare change in their pockets.
I don't really think an island would be necessary, a peninsula would do, imho.

A booth.  Really.

...

Just focus on making the game.  A reputation has to be built the hard way, anything else is a distraction at this point.
