Favourite movie directors and actors

it's a short living thread, just to see what are the community's fav directors/actors and maybe find out some good movies I never seen.

directors:

martin scorsese  (now is getting worse :( )
sergio leone
coen brothers
clint eastwood (now is getting worse :( )
danny boyle
spike lee
gulliermo del toro (tho mostly fucks up, he can put up major movies like the pan's labyrinth - also spanish/mexican directors i found out to be extremely good)

actors:

leonardo di caprio  (now is getting worse :( )
daniel day lewis
kevin spacey
robert de niro (possibly in the top 3 of the greatest actors ever)
sean penn (this guy is a monster, totally underrated imo - watch mystic river)
kevin bacon
gary oldman
al pacino (imo the best acting performance i've ever seen was made by him in the godfather, boring movie tho)
jack nicholson
denzel washington
james mcavoy (one of my favouirte out there atm)
tommy lee jones
benincio del toro (another underrated actor)



there might be someone else but i do understand list is getting too big.

Pretty great list there Darmaster, a lot of them names would be in my list. Other actors to think about perhaps (my 2 fav at the moment), Matthew McConaughey and Michael Fassbender.

I think you are missing Harvey Keitel in your list.
I just watched "Bad Lieutenant" from Abel Ferrara where Keitel plays the main character.
If you like some surreal and dark (neo-noir) shit go for it.

nice list, agree on most of them.

Here are a few of my favourites of the top of my head:

directors:

Paul Thomas Anderson - love every single movie by him and I'm definitely hyped for Vice coming this year
Darren Aronofsky - not quite as good and got worse the last movies, didn't even watched Noah so far
Joon Ho-Bong - loved The Host and Snowpiercer, have to watch more from him
feels almost lame to mention, but a directors list without Stanley Cubrick is just wrong

Actors:

Daniel Day-Lewis - mentioned before, really kicks ass imho and I just like the guy
Alan Arkin
Kevin Spacey - maybe not so much likeable, but really good

Arnold Schwarzenegger, i'll watch any movie with him in it anyday. Losing count on the times i've seen predator. Also the older he gets the badasser he looks  As for directors i rarely pay attention to whos made what movie.

Also i guess Samuel L Jackson is pretty damn great.
