M&B Mod: Warsword Conquest
« on: December 20, 2014, 07:15:34 pm »

Recently I came across the Warsword - Conquest Mod for M&B Warband. I tell you, I love it. And this is becouse I really like the Warhammer World.
So the goodies:

+  Worldmap of the Auld World
+ Many playable factions (Empire, Bretonia, Arab, TombKings, Goblins, Orcs, Highelves, Darkelves, Dwarves, Chaos, Skaven, Lizard)
+ every race has really nice models(nearly) and there are also lots of different monsters, mercs and mounts. Yes there is Alcatanic Mercs, Ogers for hire in taverns, Goblins riding giand spiders and wolves.
+ there are magic artifacts available if you meet skill requirement or bring medals from tournaments
+ nice tactical hud integrated into battles (like many other mods have too, but many also dont - and I love tactical hud with minimap and orders graphically presented).
+ improved AI: it uses formations and theire base tactics.
+ there is shield bash and braced spears.

The dark side of the moond:
- no multiplayer
- hard mode (call it unbalance, no guidance for starters, ...)
- some bugs still there
- come on this is a mod. why isnt it a full fledged, high budged games workshop franchise of glory and splendour - but in my eyes it is.

This is awesome if you like the fantasy warhammer universe. I always had the problem that I didnt emotionally hooked up with calradia - but this mod makes me motivated.

I am an outcast dark elfe. I ally with the pirate kingdom and my aim is to take over Ulthuan to show the dark elve witch king Malekith who is the boss!

Anyone else playing this? Keep me updated if there is updates. Becouse I dont have Nexus membership ... the worst m i n u s is Nexus prime membership aint free. Fuck this.

But fortunatliy there is also an other download location, witch is free...

Bump. Selfreplay.

I would propose to merge c-rpg with another mod. Merge c-rpg with Warsword: Conquest.

Yes. Open C-Rpg for Fantasy. Give us Dwarves, Darkelves, Skaven-Rats, Lizardman, Beastman, Gravelords, Goblins, Orks and all that funky stuff.

Combine awesome c-rpg  wse2 combat mechanics with fullfledged fantasy art. Lets have Dwarven Clans batteling Goblin Hordes on Strat. Let us have hordes of undead skeltons batteling together with pirates. Let teambalance be good vs evil on pub servers.

Add firearms and cannons. Unbalance everything so we need to work out new strategies and new QQ can raise. Mod is only alive and kicking if there is lot of QQ!!!

This will revive c-rpg.

Live the dream, do it yourself. That said I like Warsword conquest a lot, one of the more fleshed out sp mods out there. One of the few that I keep downloaded at all times.

You seen what happens to brand new MP mods? You invest aaaaaages into making one then people dont play them.

I think what OP has in mind is everyone logs in one day and suddenly they're an orc or a rat-man with a totally broken build getting rekt by dwarves camping rooftops with blunderbuss'. Then the 10 people who bothered to play that day come on forums and bitch about how shit it is, suddenly all us forum-dwellers decide that sounds awesome and start playing again and before you know it mod has an epic population QQing and having a good time again. Whilst those 10 players from day1 sit in the shower cubicle crying with their clothes still on, clutching mr cuddly-kuyak toy to their chests as they get doused by warm water.

Everyone would try to be a female elf or something.

Not sure that'd be worse than the current setup tho so fuck it. Do it.

My biggest problem with SP Warband was always how unbelievably hard it is to get started without cheating. Making money and becoming competent and not shit tier took a very very long time.

It does but I always just did the buying shop thing (silk everytime). Only need about 5 of them to maintain most armies even if you never collect loot or merc or own land. Once the first one is setup... its a lot faster to the second, third, fourth, etc. I always put one in each faction to diversify before putting them into the faction I'm either helping or taking over. In the one I'm playing right now (floris expanded), vaegirs got their ass handed to them. Khergits and nords took over all their towns with nords controlling 3 of them. SO they're weak as hell right now so I'm going to take over a castle or two of theirs when I'm done mercing for the swadians. Got 4 shops set up with money for a 5th and 6th very close so.. its working out pretty well. This took about 2 months gametime to do tho.. it does take a while.

Tournaments and mercing helped in this regard though, especially since mercing helps cover what your army is worth (at least in floris, been a long ass time since I played native single player but I think I remember merc payments lacking).

Wanna piss people off? Hardcode the races and genders to be generated permanently based on the CD key xD

Eg. I hate Skaven and always play a male, sucks to be me i'm female Skaven forever, i'd quit in anger but it's so fun!

Lol that'd make people rage for sure.

We should get this to run on EU_5: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,314849.0.html
It's basically just Empire and Chaos, but it sure can be fun.
I recommend downloading it and trying it for yourself, but here's an old video

Just an FYI, the rumour is they're planning for a Christmas/New Year release for next major version of the mod. Lots and lots of major changes, new factions, features and bugfixes! Be excited! :D

Also, if i understood correctly - same thing for Prophesy of Pendor... Man, gonna be playing Warband mods throughout the holidays :D

Shite, Prophecies of Pendor is still being worked on? That's pretty impressive, can't wait to see the new stuff. Both PoP and WSQ are top tier sp Warband mods.

I would wait until the next version is out before getting into it. Current version has some rather major issues to it.
