A good way to advertise Melee: Battlegrounds

Guys, I will be very honest now.

(click to show/hide)

The thing I want to say is, that maybe you should draw attention to cRPG, again.
An ad-hoc idea: I don't know the legal side of that, but try to sell Warband using cRPG.
Warband is still selling on sales for good reasons, people know about it, unlike about cRPG.
I think with proper marketing, Google Ads, etc. it would be possible to change that.

I dream of a world, where if I ask someone: did you play cRPG, then he answers: no, I did not.
Today, they simply don't know what is cRPG, but they know about shitty, cheaplooking indie games.

Then, when people know about this game, that has a history, then you can tell them that look guys,
we are making a sequel, and there will be a Kickstarter campaign sometimes in the future.
You can start the campaign when you measure a great activity on this forum, for example.

Debate?
Or am I just releasing some strange frustration in a silly way ?

P.S.: Is cRPG still developed yet ?

Could you sum up what your post is asking in a couple sentences? If its about googe ads I believe they tried it briefly but its too expensive

I meant that because the game is the spiritual successor of cRPG, they should make the mod itself more known, which would
indirectly draw some attention, since you can actually try it, unlike Melee:BG.

At this time, the mod is too tired (or exhausted) to attract more people. It has run its long beautiful course and most veterans are out by now.

On the other hand, people don't really have to have actually played this mod to have an idea. Anybody who has had his fair share of Warband experience (the focal target mass) will already know about how popular and long-lasting crpg has been, even if they may have only played native so far.

I do think cRPG is important to some extent to give M:BG some credibility as developers, and to have a fan base to draw from. But I think they have enough stuff with M:BG to separate themselves from cRPG and stand on their own two feet with that. I think the whole "spiritual successor to cRPG" is unnecessary and they'd be better off focussing on the actual unique gameplay they have with their game.

The main influence cRPG has on M:BG is people coming here who have an interest in the new game to see how the community is, to see if its actually played at all, if it gets some support from the devs etc. From that angle the devs should keep spending some time on this community. And having a community around helps to spread the word ofc. Its unfortunate that the last patch is a mixed bag really. The core gameplay isn't necessarily better even though they improved a lot of stuff. They need to scale down the changes a bit. Make people want to retire, make the builds a bit slower etc

Its a lost cause though when it comes to the core M:BG team spending time on this - just let Tydeus and San keep doing what they do and hit the patch button occasionally

You can see many old players (in rotations) if you join, but most of them play rarely.
I get bored relatively fast, too, with only 24 players online in average, in peak time.
Hopefully population doesn't go below the current level..

M:BG will not be released until 2016, so we may have some time,
later this year, when neither of the games is playable.
