This board is already enough like those three sites.  Advertizing at any of them isn't the best of ideas and will produce the opposite effect of what was intended.

You keep saying that, but what kind of negative effect are you even talking about? You are offended by the retarded comments? Go check out the Youtube videos or any other media where advertisements took place so far. Retardation is everywhere. Not everyone has to know about or is interested in this kind of game. The ultimate goal is to reach out to however few interested people may be out there.

Seriously, there is no need to go on and on about this "it will hurt the publicity" nonsense. A bunch of stupid teenagers and their equally stupid comments can't harm anything. Most of the 18k upvotes (this was the latest number I checked) probably didn't even give much of a damn about the game and just pressed that upvote button. Go do better stuff yourself if you have such a good opinion about publicity and public affairs.

Also, those comments are hilarious, it shows that it's important to really spell out everything.
A fifth believes this is clang.
A fifth believes this is a WII game.
A fifth believes you have to drag your mouse all the way.
A fifth believes "it's been done already" (as in "there was already a game where people fight with swords")
and then a fifth is just random comments or our fellow community warriors

But it doesn't matter, what matters is that as many people see it as possible - for every 30 ridiculous comments, one actually googles it because he thinks "hm.. looks interesting, actually". Mission accomplished.

There's been a big increase in YouTube subs (was wondering why I suddenly had a full page of youtube emails ), so it does have a very good effect we're in it for the long haul here!
Check a lot of the new cool indie games on steam, they all tried Kickstarter/Indiegogo too, because why not, and they suffered through the same, some had it more rough than us and still they're doing amazing on Steam afterwards. We should hopefully be quite alright despite being far from our goal.

Also don't let the negative or troll comments bother you, it happens to every game -- imagine working on COD or Battlefield --  and as chadz wrote, any PR is good when the alternative is no PR.

However judging from those comments it would seem clarity is a must, some sort of way to condense 'MELEE' into an explanatory image or gif.

A lot of people have lost trust in indie developers on kickstarter. People want to see a near finished game or a playable alpha/beta, and that's what the Donkey crew are probably working on

That's not the problem, people don't even know we exist. Far fewer have even seen the KS vid or page. 22k Views on that youtube vid.
