Returning (casual) player: What has changed?

Hail, friends,

Ever since the release of SWTOR in 2011, it has been three long years since I last braced the field and get myself killed even when dressed in full plate riding on my champion plated charger.

I have tried to read the patch notes, though it is perhaps easier if I simply ask the community what the major changes were. From what I've read so far, archers seem to have received some nerfs. If someone can summarize what has drastically changed, I'd be most grateful.

I've been enjoying the new voices so far, they have far better quality than they were before.

Cheers Mate,
Gearhardt

There were voices in 2011? Anyway, you are talking about 3 years of development, a lot has happened, and I mean a lot.

I think it was either late 2011 or early 2012 when male characters had decent voices whereas female characters had terrible quality voices.

I suppose I'll just have to play and (get killed) experience the changes first-hand.

Random stuff about the last few years...

You can roll if you double press a or d when you fall down

You can nudge (basically kicking while moving). Bind it in controls

Voices are a bit more humorous now

You level faster now and get free respec every 7 days

Shields are lighter and have more armour

Rather than nerf high level guys they made everyone high level. Battle seems quite unpopular atm

Everyone dies in a couple hits..armour is a bit useless

Tonnes of new items. Lots of balancing on the melee side of things (overall 1 handers got loads of buffs, poles got nerfs, 2 hand got some nerfs. Melee is not very unbalanced in general)

Ranged still OP. They are 10x better in melee now and still very potent at distance

IF is a bit more of a useful skill to take but other skills are still higher priority

Thats probably it.Cav is kinda useless since last patch IMO.
Also you only have to bind nudge if you use WSE2 Beta,if not its v.

Hail, friends,

you called?

some things were removed, and overall balance got a bit better. grumbs explained the rest
its easier to level and you have double xp at all times. when in conquest you start with x2 if you had x1 before or just logged in.
Your binary primitive low capacity of thinking is not relevant.

Also, game is a total spam fest in melee. Game took a few steps back in combat with the last patch

We are all still enternal grateful that no-one listens to Grumbs grumbling every 2 days about how his class is ignored unloved and killed by ranged. Infact im amazed that he managed to make it to an actual melee combat to complain about the low quality of it given the fact that according to him ranged are firing bazookas from humvees as they only do hit and run tactics ruining his round everytime he wants to play before he even gets a chance to engage in any melee at all.
Smooth is the admin NA deserves. Not being that much better, EU deserves Thomek.

Wut. If all you got from my posts in this thread was "ranged OP" then I think you have a bit of a reading comprehension issue

Thanks for the comprehensive list of changes as well as your insights, everyone.

I suppose the changes applied to melee (shield/polearm bash and nudge) only increase the skill caps further. After a few matches in battle, I still can't differentiate whether the game is more balanced or not since I'm not a good player to begin with. I'll just take you guys' word for it being more balanced than before, lol.

Too bad, indeed, that plated donkey chargers are naught but a fantasy.

Oh and they fucked the ever loving shit out of dtv by replacing the villager with the innocent virgin, then fucking the virgin by replacing her with that speccy-bowl-haired-cut-fuck-small-dick-skinny-coont-eat-more-wanker valdemar, and added conquest, another game mode that is basically capture point that sometimes appears on siege

And it seems a lot of the maps suck nowadays
