Requiem for a Siege

I know this might be a long shot but I want to see if the revival patch has the ability make things right. Siege has been a POS for a very long time (as far as NA is concerned) and there needs to be change. Its really quite simple and its just one word:
(click to show/hide)
You bring back these babies and you open up a whole new reason to play siege. Make them only usable on siege and plan a new siege rotation to have maps that accommodate ladders. This also gives people a way to learn how to use ladders so they are not sucking it up on strat trying to get the ladder right. For the love of sweet baby jesus let this happen. It's been too long with out ladders, make it right. Discuss now.

Allow ladders on everything period.

EU siege had 80-90 people on, ladders would make it more fun

Because it's not just a matter of editing rotation, every single map in it has been edited and made with no deployable ladders in mind. For over 2 years now, imagine the work getting maps available for ladders again. A very tedious job only to get a feature back that is highly abusable. Roofs full of ranged are gone and they will not make a comeback.

all the siege maps are shit anyway, siege was best with the (mostly) native map rotation with ladders when it was still on the community server and not NA2

What an ungrateful fuck you are, playing this mod for many years for free and putting such demands on the people (also doing it for free) that allows you to play the mod in the first place.

Ladders were removed for a reason, which has been explained before.

Fips has given you the reason again, it is not about laziness it is simply about time and complexity of the task.

i wouldn't mind seeing a siege ram that obviously can be broken like doors and other things alike, and can be used on the big gates/doors on castles.

that would be awesome and wouldn't break balance just have them easy to make but also easy to destroy, but they also do considerate damage to doors and gates and they require like 3 players to operate it.

very slow like a siege tower moves and something like weak to fire, so the torch is actually useful for something aswel as looking good.

maybe have it so it requires atleast 2 guys at the side of it to push it, like a siege tower but you can turn it.

If you are nostalgic for ladders on siege, you must have forgotten about how attackers ninja-capped with some obscure ladder location almost every round back in the day. Not to mention the frequent instances of abuse/trolling (unreachable ranged, defenders setting up above the flag so it can't be capped, etc) that required constant attention from admins. Maybe once in a blue moon ladders actually improved gameplay, but 99% of the time they solely caused grief.

With no ladders, most maps have nice progressive gameplay with gates/ladders (permanent)/doors/choke points/etc that encourage teamwork and communication. With ladders, defenders just have to sit bored at the flag. If I wanted to sit around doing nothing most of the time, I'd play Battle.

Siege doesn't need ladders, it just needs xp/gold rewards that are on par with Battle. Valor is at least 20 times less frequent, and average multi is much lower due to rampant team-switching. Fix the rewards, and NA2 will be populated more often. Not to mention, no one wants to help get the server populated, because with less than 8 players it's just duel server with upkeep.

FYI, the remaining NA2 diehards (led by Jona) recently voted on maps to remove from the rotation, and Fips enacted our requests. So the rotation is much better now (the conquest maps still need to be reduced to 1 round though, IMHO).

Bjord I'm starting to think you are more bipolar than Leshma.

On topic, ladders were horrible both in battle and siege as they enabled a whole new level of camping and abuse. They did not bring anything valuable either, so there's zero point adding them back. Besides it's just plainly not possible with the maps we have now.
