Why wouldn't we be happy with how it went? We kicked ass in the actual battles. Yeah, we lost a few villages, but we're getting them back. We had fun, but obviously someone didn't (cry threads, etc).

I don't know how the rest of KbW felt, but I made several posts saying how I was glad we were getting attacked by Squids/AI Barbarian. I know Aldo felt the same way. We just haven't been proactive enough, regarding a full-out assault, so 'getting' attacked was a good thing. I'm positive we'll be able to return the favor in these next 2 months. Might not be battle after battle every night, but we'll make something happen. The odd part was how they attacked the hell out of us & cried when they couldn't get the job done (not Squids, they were fairly cool about it)... Like it was our fault they attacked us with poor strategy? But as I said before, as you make your bed, so you must lie in it.

But ye, them Pikes... Game changers. Was a good decision to loom those.

Welp thats it then, strat 5 is over.

who else is going to create battles? no one. even if they do, they will be pre planned stress free xp battles. not a bad thing, just not what people who grew up playing risk and squad leader and panzer general are interested in.

where did it all go wrong? idk man i really dont. we can all blame the economy of this strat, but honestly, "fcc" didnt just face a lack of quality gear this strat, they faced a lack of quality opponents.

from Hos having mutual respect, even to the point where captured land was given back to them so they could rebuild and keep fighting, to LL congratulating their opponents on how well they defeated them, the overall atmosphere of strat 4 was much better.

when fcc vs cc ended, sandy wrote something like "the objective of war is to make your opponent regret his decision, and fcc did just that." something like that, the point is that both sides had at least one person respectfully saying GG and moving on to the next battle ( which i believe was daruvian taking on HoC's last stronghold, a hard but epic fight )

when i read that, i thought "this community and this game are gonna be around for ever" i even donated 30 bucks to crpg , thats HOW GOOD STRAT 4 WAS.


in the end, it wasnt the economy, kesh\wes cant do it all, this strat was ultimately ruined by a *lack of quality opponents, and dutchy, daru, sandy, relit, hos\hoc etc etc, their absence has made this strat extreamly boring.

sadly na turned into the same no win scenario as eu has, the only difference is in eu, THEY WIPE YOU OUT!...and in NA? they STARVE you out.

Aldo seemed a bit frustrated during parts of the war. He definitely didn't want the war.. but he beared it.. I suppose.

But it was fun regardless even as interest waned as the war went on. I do think that the barbarian horde did very well vs MB. It was never a war they could win. Too many fiefs.. too much troops.. etc. But it was about xp and fun. And it was. Some battles vs MB were rage inducing (dem pikes) and some were lolfests (dem peasant castle defenses).

Just don't let it slack off eh? Or do then give me Serindiar.

maybe if the faction actually had enough active members to make full rosters out of their OWN players, sadly NA has a whooping pop of 100 fucking people, so clan alliances are bound to happens. And no i dont agree just cuz its a war game there SHOULD be alliances...pfff imo it would be a lot better war game if clans were out for themselves trying to prove which was the best clan at war.

And by that i mean which was the best AT WARFARE...sadly this war game has some bad mechanics that make afk traders with powerful friends seem like conquerors

Months from now when small independent factions are still struggling along, the super-alliances will easily have a shit ton more resources as ever village they attack right now is a guaranteed win, since no one will sign against them, whereas the independents have people actually trying to keep them from gaining a fief thus more power

In the end, very few fights will prob go down, the supers wont fight against eachother....so there is nothing to stop them from taking over the map.... lol taking over the map to do what? the independents with maybe a village or two and small resources...they wont stand a chance attacking , they wont stand a chance defending

They wont have the gear, they wont have the resources, and even if they did, they dont have the rosters, PLUS, since their enemies are all allied, they wont have much of a break is someone attacks them...vs a mega alliance where even if u are attacked, another part of your grand alliance comes to ur aid and takes the weight of ur back.


and then when all the inde's are wiped, and the only ones left are the super alliance...pff they will prob just quit, saying they won the game and moved on....pffff u dont win shit when there is no chance of losing anything lol

Strategus 5 was not ruined by the people playing, but by the people not playing it.

I can't blame these people, for some it was the general venomous attitude of this community and for others it was the general tedium and lack of interest.  Strategus 4 was highly entertaining and very interesting because the "politics" were dynamic and there were many different personalities clashing.  Strategus 5 is just the result and continuation of the bitter grudge match that was the end of strat 4, and the goal of the game changed from "play the game and achieve ____" to "lazily shit post and argue on the forums about who won the special olympics"

This is why so many of the big names from last strat no longer play, it's just not interesting anymore.  Too many grudges and too many small factions joining large factions because bloc A is better than bloc B.

Jeade - I've been told repeatedly how you are still butthurt about being dropped from a roster in strat 4 and you yourself said it that you carry a grudge all the way through this strat as well and merc for other side every single battle because of it.  Thats what a popularity contest is like in this community then thank god I'm not in your group who carry the same grudges through to each strat and never try something new.  We actually merced against black company and acre and merced for hospitallers and GForce at various points in this strat - its called playing the game fresh.  But that becomes meaningless if majority of whats left in the community are grudge bearers who carry the past strats forward or like James who become psycho because you are mercing against him (that was the original break with acre and he may have built up and bottled up his "grievances" since then, but that was the initial cause for when he first went crazy and started spamming me on steam daily how evil I was). 

Then it becomes who can be the most passive aggressive (Occitan-chevalieres gives troops but never fights) and attack no one wins the popularity contest and gets the most mercs because they never fought anyone to cause them to merc against them.  Being popular means doing nothing and attacking no one - I don't want to play a war game that way - sorry.  Sadly many of the members of old tkov and old fcc and remnant and many of my eu friends simply don't play this game anymore - people I liked and am friends with left this ugly community with good reason.  There is simply not enough people left to fill a roster against all the clans that merc together while never attacking.  Doesnt matter who they fight on the map - if you are not part of mb, acre, astralis, black company, chevalieres, occitan, hospitallers, cooperation - the community says you are not "popular" enough to fill a roster. (Just ask poor yoshis)

Also, i know you and MB keep trying to say you won, but what exactly did you think our 7 man faction was going to do against over 60 active players getting help from 250 more players?  We knew from the onset we were not going to wipe them out, we even said it at the beginning (maybe us taking the desert so easily from them made you expect us to?).  We got far more than we expected at the beginning - 2 of their castles, got to reset pp on 5 of their villages and fuck up their lame trading game.  Our main goal was to burn through all our troops and gear in good batles with full rosters - so I guess in that sense youa re right - we lost.  But for actual strategy we succeeded far more than we expected to mostly because of the many many mistakes mb made on the strat map costing them thousands of troops and giving us 2 of their 4 castles, which they can never take back because they never attack anything but undefended villages.  But I'm sure if you, Chosen1, testicleez, mb and all your grand alliance of cronies say it often enough you'll actually maybe even convince yourselves otherwise - good luck with that.  I'm still waiting for the proof of them actually getting a castle back and not the ruined, abandoned villages.

P.S. -1 from Chosen1 in 2 seconds after posting - thank god hes back on forum patrol for hours every day - I was worried all that time he spent desperately putting together his poorly spelled newspaper might take away from it.
