I'd recommend removing any 1h wpf, personally. If you're in a situation such as an intense 1v1 or yourself versus multiple enemies, taking out your 1h weapon is going to get you hit once or more. I wouldn't recommend your 12-24 build at all for myself, but even at 18-18, you don't want to be taking hits as a hoplite unless you're forced to.
If you get in a dueling situation, you can either make use of bullshit wiggles and kicks to beat someone that's just coming at you hard, or press H to drop your shield and fight them like that. I'd do the second, personally.
I don't think you'd glance like a madman using a polearm with only 4PS, but that is assuming that you're turning properly into your stabs. If you're just using the mouse button you'll be much more likely to glance. You'll really have to consistently move your camera into your swing with an up-down motion, or a left-right/right-left motion.
As a last thought, consider using a shield besides the knightly heater/knightly kite shields. I think they look pretty fly, and are good at dueling (although if I was dueling anyone I'd drop my damn shield in the first place), but they provide very, very little coverage for teammates. As a proper hoplite you'll be providing shield coverage for your melee folks that lack a shield, and perhaps sometimes for crossbowmen reloading or archers under heavy fire.
Good luck with the build, bud. Last few times I've actually ventured into NA1 there seem to have been a large proportion of HA. Kinda blew.
