How effective is half swording?

I'm thinking of making an alt character as a two-handed swordsman, and I was wondering how effective half swording is, if anyone has used it much.  I was thinking of putting some points into polearm if its any good.  If anybody has experience with it, do share.

If half swording uses polearm wpf, it's a total waste of time. Who puts points into both polearm and two hander?

Me, hybriding is highly usuable with the new wpf costs. Makes a 2ndary pike more effective too.
