There's also another 2 series anime with a character like the main one from Death Note, and in this anime he hides under the name Zero and wages war against the state. It's full of great situations that make u LOL because you know how much of a head fuck the character is in, even tho it's a serious anime.

yea also heres a REALLY cool(imo) mostly action anime but its beyond 'serious' tho with some legend-style exaggeration, called shigurui

the op roughlty demonstrates its tone. its a 100% straight up samurai show, extremely brutal and gory and everything. basically berserk or whatevers normally considered brutal has nothing on it, its straight up guro, a guy's head gets bahsed in with a rock and they actyually animated it. the whole thing. like soemthing youd see on rotten.com ro something. it also has a homo samurai jerking off. and more stuff.



but on the other hand it watches like a drama and becuase of all teh brutal shit going on you start to feel sorry for all the characters. ends kind of abruplty o na cliffhanger, closign the main plotline but leaving the 'storytelling' plotline opned. basically i liked it a whole lot but i doubt youd like its slow pacing and over all seriousness and gore and stuff but who kn ows so ill just mention it.

yep, seen it when it came out 2007, got sucked in instantly with the first episode, truly awsome style, not because it's gory, but because it has alot of detail to the moment in each scene, don't know how to describe it in proper english 
also there's this total samurai feeling/mentality through the whole series, just love it.
So if you like real samurai movies from jap, you probably like this one too.
just a shame that it only has 12 episodes...

I barely seen any anime at all so hoping you can give me advice on which ones I would like.

I used to like dbz as a kid but childess/corny anime like dbz and naruto which is totally cliche and trys to be funny is a no no. I've yet to find any anime funny, must have a different sense of humour.

more serious, dark anime like death note is more my thing. I just started watching beserk which is also good. has an awesome dark art style but the quality of animation is bad. I seen the first ghost in the shell film, loved it, should I watch the anime or is it the same story?

I got into bleach because my housemates love it.  but it seemed to get a worse so I stopped watching after first 3 seasons. bleach is ok, mix of good and bad anime I described above. I did laugh a couple of times in ~50 episodes, but I still think I prefer anime that doesn't attempt humour. (oh and there was pretty major plot holes imo)

so based on my anime experience/opinions above, tell me what you think I would like! also say whether dub or sub. I been sticking to sub since most people say sub, but I do prefer dub if its decent, like berserk Im watching dub since its decent. anime can be quite slow pace and string out the story battles (one of the main things I dislike about it), so its nice to be able to alt tab and listen to what they are saying when its filler, flashback or some other lame way anime likes to draw out a story into 300 episodes :/
