Ehhh... It didn't grab me so far and I'm episode 6 atm.

I mean having the main character an undead is not a problem. In wow I loved the undead race. It's just the general tone of the story and the main crew's personalities that makes it look so weird to me.

Yeah the npc that feel obliged to voice their hatred for humans at every given second has already worn me down. But the concept is quite refreshing and the plot is advancing nicely. The personalities probably drag the show down a bit but overall I think it's great so far.

For a while now I just stopped watching anime and started reading a lot of manga, seeing Overlord makes me think of taking a look back into new anime again. Any recommendations you guys have for recent anime? Preferably in the past few years that's good.

Only new anime I'm watching besides *ehem* Monster Girls *ehem* is Gakkou Gurashi!.

You shouldn't read reviews on it (Some reviews even say to not read reviews lol) or you lose the twist. If you like or want to check out an anime in the zombie apocalypse check it out. First episode might seem weird but wait till the end and you will understand why. (There's also some hinting throughout the episode if you pay close attention)

I usually prefer to watch seinen, usually with some action. As long as it isn't some slow romance or slice of life it should be fine.

I saw that and rather enjoyed it. While I'm sure I've missed some good anime in the past. I've watched a lot, more than I can remember at first. Which is the main reason I'm asking for newer anime. But if you know something good that really unknown then I might not have seen that also.

Gangsta is airing atm and its aight. Also if you havent watched Durarara!! its like if Guy Ritchie made anime. Baccano is pretty good too.

Also, Noir. Its a classic that was even played dubed on the German MTV. It aged well and is worth a watch. Great gunfights in that one.

I've read all of the Gangsta Manga so far, still on the fence is the anime is worth watching on top of that. Durarara and Baccano! are two of my favorite anime. I'll have to look into this Noir one though. Although I saw they got out a third season of Durarara. Which has me anxious, the second season started out strong, but the ending seemed like a let down. I'm hoping the thrill isn't let down from the draw up like last season.

It has a great soundtrack also, mixing electronica with classical music and actually managing to pull it of.

Ok, a little update after a while, waifu and I have been watching some serious anime and I'll try to recap

Parasyte: Loved it, Migi is the bestest
Tokyo Ghoul: Loved it, great animation, story, everything
Robotics;Notes: probably anime we enjoyed the most this summer, made us cheer at the end, got so involved with the protagonists
Terror in Resonance/Tokyo: shorter anime but really fun and enjoyable
Hyouka: feel good high school mystery anime, real fun
Guilty Crown: super confusing, you practically have no idea whats going on 20 episodes in the anime and it all climaxes in last 2, just when you think you start to understand some random shit happens that makes you be like WTF?! but really nice watch

Also revisited some classics like Hellsing OVA, Death Note and newer Attack on Titan, we also started D Gray man but was a bit too much.

We're starting Darker than Black now, I never finished it but was really fun so looking forward to it.
And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works

Read Vinland Saga to last chapter. I like the whole thing, I think it's pretty amazing, however unsure if I like what the mc is turning into..

Yeah, I liked the kill first and avoid questions later Thorfinn a lot more. Also the great war and fight scenes are probably more of what brought people in and going in the peaceful Thorfinn direction would probably be bad for his current audience. Although right now it has my attention, and I'm interested to see how the current arc plays out.

Gonna keep reading obviously, it's still very good and I doubt they'll just be able to pull this off without Thorfinn touching anyone. But yeah, prologue was fucking excellent.
