That is what you get for trying to crutch on gender role perceptions.

What kind of half measure is that!

Get her in an arm lock and tell her that hitting a police officer is a crime, and a severe one.

Then the rest is up to the officer in question:
1. Detain her and charge her with "assaulting a police officer"
2. Let her go with a stern warning(my vote!)

Slapping back leaves room for further escalation, the reaction of a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL(aka. police officer) should never leave room for potential escalation, therefore pacification through arm lock is the way to go IMO.

I actually would be for a investigation of the police officers actions, it was unprofessional.

Not doing anything back would make people believe hitting a police officer, a man of authority as you put it Prpavi, wouldn't be such a big deal and have no real consequences for you, as they would be unable to "retaliate" in any form. Slapping her back might not have been the best choice, maybe should've brought her in and charged her sorry ass for assault instead.

It's a matter of principle... and don't fall into the trap of overgeneralizing her capacity to cause harm based on preconceptions.
She might be crazy and pull a knife(gun if USA) on him.

What are you talking about, matter of principle?

And I'm not overgeneralizing. Knives are just sharp pieces of metal. They don't give superpowers to their wielders. An overweight elderly lady who starts crying when someone gently slaps her is not dangerous, no matter what you put in her hands.

To me it looks like she is in a police station, coming out from what looks like questioning, don't you think they checked for guns/knoves already? Might be different if this was at school when they just came to arrest her, then yes she might have a wepon on her (still unlikely).

Personally I get really sweaty and my hands start to shake every time an elderly woman comes near me, she might be ARMED and DANGEROUS for God's sake! What if she's ex-Special Forces and the whole old woman thing is just a CLEVER DISGUISE for HIS CIA black ops assassination mission??????

Or maybe hysterics like this gets only taken seriously on video game forums, anyone who's not a complete stranger with his own body would laugh heartily if you said this shit IRL.

So you'd just hit the elderly woman cos she cant fight back instead?

Excellent real life logic, not just internet tough guy video game forum logic where you don' take no shit from any old lady. If you do that IRL you get arrested and fail at life, gg no re, do not pass go do not collect $200 dollars, perma x1.

I agree it was unprofessional from the police officer. Pravpi's and Admerius's perspectives are the most rational one I've seen. If this had happened in the US for example the woman would've sued and probably won millions in a lawsuit. I don't know anything about romanian law, so I can't compare.

The woman was a teacher accused of physically abusing her students. Given the way she reacted to the cop, it's just further proof she's obviously guilty. She had no problem slapping not only an adult man, but a cop. Do you really think she had any scrupples about doing it to children much physically weaker than her? The cop reacting the way he did puts the whole case in jeopardy. I can understand the reflex, but I can't approve of it, given the position of authority he is in.

As you can see from her reaction, she never expected to get hit back. Tells a lot about her personality when she'd slap others and expect them not to do anything about it. Very good evidence indeed that she abuses her students, probably why she's so used to being untouchable.
