When to stop retiring?

So I'm currently generation 5 and got +3 sword of war and +3 body armor. I am about to hit lvl 30 and not sure whether it is worth retiring. I noticed from chatting on the duelling server that many of the players are lvl 34/5/6. But it might be worth retiring for the extra xp and loom point although i'm not sure what to loom except a long bow for my archer alt.

loom hand armour of course. But you can also do that later with an alt or do some trading if you like. Now of course with the x2 minimum under lvl25 it is easy as it wasn't since years to level up again.

Looming hand and head armors give a nice boost to survivability, probably more than staying at level 31 and leveling slows down considerably after that.
Gen 16 is a popular stopping point for retiring since it gives you the maximum gen bonus.

Either way is good and you can always retire with an alt or trade if you feel like you need something later. Or retire your main with that prestigious veteran status.

I am gen 25. I have no looms and I am level 22. I have respecd around 20+ times at different levels this gen just because I couldn't handle going to 31. My suggestion is if you like a certain build and want to play it for a very long time then keep on retiring to get loomed gear for it. If not, don't worry too much about looms, just keep respecing whenever you feel like and use regular gear. It makes the game a little more fun when it isn't such a damn chore to grind through with a boring build

Being high level can be very boring if you only have two +3 looms and thereby no real chance of having any fun alts to play on when you get bored.

I'd say you should retire. This way you will also have lots of opportunity to redo your buidl(s) to perfection.

Also levels do not mean that much in cRPG. Good gear (espeacially armour) is far more important.

You should stop retiring when you feel like you've found a class that you can play with for a really long time without getting bored of it. Or when you have enough looms and therefore you respec instead of retiring when you wanna change your class.

I don't think retiring at all is worth it in the current game climate. Stay at 30+ and get in a clan with an armoury. You could donate nearly all your gold to them (except for repairs) and borrow a few things when you need them. The payoff for getting even one loom is when you're at lvl 30+. Is a +3 worth even 1 PS? The main thing you want is gloves and armour looms, but I could live without them if it meant being 30+ all the time. Just use alts at 30+ and respec if you want to use different builds

I wouldn't want to play at sub 30 now especially without looms

If you want to go beyond 380 or so xp, then retire until gen 16

If you want PHUN NAOW! aka. dislikes 15*lvl 31 grind... then just game on.

Gen 16 benefits: You know your build(s), I recommend modifying it a little each gen...

Create 26 alts all with different "builds" so I can swap whenever I want to(btw 20 of them are gen 2 now)...

stick to a "concept" like: agi 2h/balanced 2h/str 2h(sry almost forgot: Pure agi 2h/Pure str 2h).

Here's my reasoning for going gen 17 on my main:
I'm not sure if I messed up the maths here but if you retire instantly when reaching 31 until gen 16 you will have to reach around 370 to 380 million xp to make up for that... which is a lot of xp.
