A way to balance the long spear

I suggest to make the long spear balanced i see nothing wrong with it as it makes long spear easier to use and to be able to block with

Long spear being balanced would be great. I would love to try out a long spear/Pike build but long spear only has a slightly longer reach than ashwood and shield and deals similar damage (with the shield and spear penalty) and being able to hold a shield is a big advantage for such a supportive class.

riding skill as str based though... plated chargers with 8+ PS builds charging around... well I don't need to say any more.

Tydeus coded a bonus against cavalry tag in the past. I think I told him not to add the tag to weapons back then, but the pikes/long spears might benefit from this. The tradeoff is that there would be less reliance on teammates and secondary weapons when they're alone against cav. I think that's fine, though, considering how indirectly nerfed they were against them.

Wait so you are saying that long spears/pikes will have less reliance on teammates and secondary weapons how?

Because it's difficult to kill horses with just a pike at the moment because of the low damage output. You have to be in a good number of favorable circumstances without any interruptions.

I don't feel as though the longspear/pike need any change to stats or tags. I think that kicks should be changed back to being able to turn a bit with them, if anything. Maybe less than before, but at least give it something.

Yea i was just throwing the first suggestion out there, i am not cavalry on almost all my characters

I think the ideal solution for long spear/pike against would involve being able to stab horses on the side/front without getting caught on the cavalry player's gigantic block forcefield, but that's probably too difficult to implement.

I'm not sure about balancing them vs infantry, I've only really seen them in action in Tanken's jumpy helicopter facestabby hands lately.

Also For the long spear i find it annoying as fuck when i am fighting someone and i hit their down block sometimes it leaves me vulnerable long enough for someone to swing and hit me before I can block it (1 example today it happened on me when i hit a poleaxe)

I like the idea of bonus against cavalry. In the rare event I see a pike/long spear actually rear a horse, it's usually followed by the pikeman getting chopped up by the cav's ACS while his followup thrusts either glance or get caught on the HUGE mounted shield forcefield.

Make it so the long spear only has so much durability, and when it breaks it just becomes a regular spear.

After enough damage, that can become the shortened spear.  Then from there...

So we should make the long voulge turn into a voulge after it breaks in the middle of battle too :P
