Not sure if i should put it here. Not sure if you are aware or not either but the QAA doesnt work anymore. 3.3.8 had the QAA (finally! yay!) but then it disappeared again with 3.3.9  :cry: Not really a biggie but i just think it was a nice alternative to the spammed CHARGE.

There is a discrepancy between the names of the attack_attack sound files and how they are listed in the sounds.txt.  You can either change the names of the sound files from vc_1_attack_attack_1.ogg etc to vc_1_attack_attack1.ogg etc or you can change the entries in sounds.txt to match the sound files.  Either way will fix the problem.
WSE2 gives us the key to a wonderful world of butthurt...

Missing commands will be readded. The sounds are recorded.

Male voices are pitched to a too high frequency, which makes them sound smurfish.

Anyway, both issues are on our list and will be fixed.


We also discussed adding more voicesets for different charstyles - corresponding to a chareditor setting.

The implementation process consists of taking the old file name, making sure the naming scheme is correct, then copy+pasting for how many different versions of that command there are, renaming them, and doing that for all 569 or however many sound files there were (took 4 hours). Needless to say, I wasn't implementing them sober and only had one other person help me test them, so it's no surprise that there are a few bugs.  :lol:

Just let Fin or myself know as you find new bugs and we'll see about getting them fixed.

I like the voices overall. I can see the work that went into it for consistency and offering varied sounds to reduce the repetition. You can't please everyone with sounds and voices, so consistency and thoroughness are the main thing. I assume they will be tweaked over time to polish them up.

That being said, the ones that stuck out as not so good for me:

The dying noise that sounds like vomiting. Brings a really different image to mind when I hear it.

A lot of the female sounds are OK but sound kinda wimpy/whiny. Find a friend who does sports or martial arts, and the shouts will be much more 'serious'. Right now they sound like scared children trying to be tough.

I have no personal issue with the FU one, but I wonder if I had kids in the house... I know that a lot of us gamer geeks don't tend to imagine that family folks play these games, but they do, and it's probably unnecessary to make it harder for them. I know headphones exist but again, making things harder, more 'I have to hide this from the fam' probably isn't helpful to expanding the range of players.


ESPECIALLY LIKE: The death cough. I love the understatedness of that.

the evolution of the voice commands is appreciated.

Still: anyone made a backup of the previous ones? They had that "hey who tortured my transsexual granma" feel, esp. the female ones. Bit annoying after a couple days, but freaking funny.
Hermit Status report : feeling a little social. Threatening melee my old friends with a comeback. Greasing the string of his old longbow. Carving certain names into the tips of his arrows...

Throwing lances are really shitty now. Before : 1 lance to kill a horse. Now : 3 lances...

After ranged penetration removed, it had the side effect of nerfing the throwing lance the most. Right now, 6 ammo of +3 throwing lances deal the same total damage as the old +3 throwing lances with the extra penetration. Damage is now simply more evenly distributed with more versatility as well. Pure throwers have a use for 0 slot throwing weapons for once. Throwing knives, buckler, and 1slot weapons add some more options while keeping similar total power to how it was before. 2 stacks of throwing lances and 1 stack of throwing daggers total damage mirrors 4 stacks of jarids, leaving one 0 slot item to spare.

Additionally, lighter horses received a slight hp increase, so there's a combination of effects at play.

voices suck, DTV still sucks, MOTF still does not work when you need it to, awlpike buff... I have no opinion on.

so now that we have established that NA1 and 3 are the only servers worth going to and strat is pretty meh as of late, how are you going to mess up NA 1 next patch?
OH WAIT auto balance is fucked
