I once tried a STR build shielder and found it very tough to play. People have already discussed why this is. Your other alternative to going for a long reach sword is to go for a hammer since your high PS should get you a few knockdowns. You've probably realised now that you've effectively wasted 3 points of STR with this build, because you have 27 str but neither your Power Strike nor your Iron Flesh is 9. What about using a buckler? I am planning on going long espada/buckler, or side sword/buckler depending on how the swords feel.

Buckler loses the main advantage of shield builds - range protection, it's also difficult to defend against several enemies with such a small shield.

But it's light and has style.

I've never really had a problem with archers (I stick behind big dudes with shields) I just use it for autoblock mainly. With high athletics multiple enemies aren't a problem.
