Computer Build

I am completely new to building computers, and have never built one before. I do however have friends who are experienced and will help throughout the actual building of the computer, but I still need help on what parts I would like to get.

I have set aside $1200 for the build, but I could raise that to perhaps $1400 if needed. The real requirement i'm looking for this computer is that i'll be able to run-

1. The New Star Wars Battlefront game (http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=8081&game=Star%20Wars:%20Battlefront%20III)
2. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (not sure how accurate this is, but http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=9229&game=Kingdom%20Come:%20Deliverance)
3. Destiny (iffy on whether or not it's coming to pc or not, so you can kinda ignore this one)
4. STAR CITIZEN (no idea what I would need to run this, but as long as it's playable with decent fps i'd be happy. I found this thread (https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/22025/guide-to-can-my-pc-laptop-run-star-citizen) Honestly, 30 fps on lowest settings is all I ask for.

pcpartpicker is preferable as i'm comfortable with it.

Here is a ~1200 build done by my cousin http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ercman99/saved/J3hypg

Unsure if that's any good or relevant.

and here is another one, which looked good other than the case http://pcpartpicker.com/user/EPiCxCOMMANDER/saved/nzNzK8 (might not fit everything)

ANY HELP OR CRITIQUE IS WELCOMED AND NEEDED, THANKS!

Well, I don't know about the prices, but this is generally the go-to guide for picking parts based on price tiers.

Just pirate the operating system you want and then you free up 130 dollars which I personally would spend on a better graphics card. But hey who would pirate Windows right?.

You could also think about ditching the SSD if your main goal is gaming. SSD will reduce boot and loading speed (which is really great IMO), but as long as you have sufficient RAM a better GPU will have much more influence on fps.

Current build doesn't count the GPU (it has no price). It would be better to get a more modern GPU anyway.

Tadaah
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9fwzhM

You can switch the case back, I just know this case is good (I own one), nothing flashy.

Notes:
- no SSD (you could squeeze a Samsung 840 EVO 120gb in I think, but it's not necessary for an initial build)
- Sorry about the Keyboard being MW3, but it's a decent keyboard that's cheaper because it's got MW3 on it. (again I own one :P)
- Less buttons on the mouse, but it's a really good mouse!
- I think the 760 is roughly the same as a 660ti, with the cooler I chose for yours, you should be able to OC easily.
- You could save about $100 going down to a 4670k (quad core, no hyperthreading), shouldn't notice too much difference in most games.
Mostly games are GPU limited.
- If you ever want to put a second GPU in for SLI, then you'll need a new power supply.
- The headset I chose should be cheaper, I think you can save $10 going to amazon direct. Again it's a decent headset, I love mine. However, the cabling has cracked after about 1 1/2 years (still under warranty, I haven't got round to sending it off for RMA :p).

EDIT:
Alternative:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mL8Jgs

Notes:
- Dropped down to the 4670k, but swapped the 760 with a R9 290.
- Should have much better FPS in games and be able to run at higher resolutions.
- HDD is Blue instead of Black, shouldn't notice much difference (slightly worse).
- When it comes to upgrading, you will have 2 main paths, CPU and GPU, whereas the other build will only have GPU. (The other is better for upgrading, less wasteful)
- R9 290 is usually a very hot card, but this cooler will keep it below most Nvidia cards :p. (A lot of reviews talk about the temp)

TLDR:
First build has a better CPU, and a decent GPU.
Second Build has a decent CPU and a better GPU.

If you don't care about upgrading in the future and just want a solid build for the next 2+ years, then No.2 is best.
It should be able to run everything on High and 1080p, if not better.

Thanks for the quick response and such a detailed one. Both of these builds look nice, I'm curious to which one you'd favor. Again, I'm not very knowledgeable on computers, so I'm unsure on what all the specs mean   Would it be able to run Star citizen on minimal graphics?  How long would it stay relevant? Etc

I'd prefer the second one tbh, similar performance to a GTX 780, so you'd be maxing out Star citizen @1080p.
You could do as V/onMega suggests, take the second build and swap the R9 290 for a GTX 770.
The 770 is less powerful, but cheaper:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/X3fvdC
$1263

For a comparison:

AMD tends to have worse drivers than Nvidia, but the R9 290 would still outperform the GTX 770 regardless.

http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu?_ga=1.226206808.314700350.1392066396#
3D mark score, higher is better.

Senni´s build is good.

Just go for a 4690 k and a Z97 chipset board - You ll get better temps when overclocking, prices should be the same... :-)
The cooler is a matter of taste and how hard you want to overclock... IF.

Yeah, they should OC better, but I haven't seen any proof of it. Most show they OC the same :/.

Depends what you can get for what price.

EDIT:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mhnpzy
$1265

Pretty much same price, v/onMega is right. Go for the newer stuff!

Cooler wise, I have the cooler I chose for you. Keeps my 4770k @55C or less (stock clock 3.5GHz).
Cheap and effective.

If you have the cash, you can go for a corsair H90 or H80i (closed loop watercooler), should be around $90. Would keep it around 40C and allow you to overclock much more.
