Anybody playing it? I bought it just some weeks ago and absolutely love it!
How long can you survive? Whats your special tactic in a world full of dangers?

did u get the reign of giants dlc? it literally changes everything, before i would make it to the near the end of winter and die to something absolutely stupid, now with the new dlc i just die in the summer to heat stroke, ive not really made a very successful run yet.

I got RoG but since I'm rather new I dont play it yet. I've made it to day 50 so far and still alive! Once I've mastered a few winters I will try RoG. These frickin dogs are a real pain in the ass, had 6 of them chasing my ass in the middle of the night...

if you have made it to day 50, then you need to do the reign of giants stuff, it will completely change everything you have worked on, not to mention that some of the crafting stuff changes, so relearning them becomes somewhat weird when you have built them a specific way for so long.  Btw, i try and not use the wiki stuff, i try and figure out most stuff on my own, which might lead to why ive not lasted past i believe day 40.

God damn it. Finally somehow got the hang of this game and survived for 15 days, than hounds came in the dark, I paniced(irl) and ran into the wilderness like an idiot and the darkness killed me. If I was the cool under fire sort of person I would have figured it out that I should have made a tourch asap and ran near the buffalos next to my camp and they would have rekt the hounds.

I did use the wiki for a few things. Cause some helpful tips I would have never figured on my own. Like how to pacify a treeguard. Cause those bastards will chase you for all ethernety and according to the wiki they take a good 50 hits atleast to die.

Anyone got any tips on how to obtain silk easier and any tips to how to survive the winter properly?

Yeah hounds can be a bitch, waves are getting bigger and bigger... had 8 hounds chasing me last time  :?
I've made it to day 90 right now (after dieing countless times in earlier games...) and got a nice base, a good food-flow and lots of traps that surround me and help vs hound waves. The best thing to get rid of dogs I think is to have an eyeplant close to base (a big plant with multiple plants surrounding it) and run in circles around it, the eyes will attack the dogs and you're safe. That wont work during winter though as the plant will "sleep". Find some penguins, pigs or other stuff that can help you.

Talking about pigs - if you ever find a touchstone (the revive thingy) it is surrounded by pigheads on stakes. Make a hammer and deconstruct these stakes, it will give you pigskin. You can use that to build pighouses which spawn... pigs! You can lure hostile mobs to them and they will attack, you can even feed the pigs with meat and they will be friends with you and follow you.
If you obtain hound teeth keep them until you can build traps with them, they deal quite some damage and help you vs mobs.

Go look for an eyebone in the swamp area, if you pick it up a little pumpkin like creature will follow you which has some storage slots. Also good to tank for some time.

Build farms and keep planting seeds until you get dragonfruit. If you harvest your first dragonfruit dont eat it, feed it to your bird in the birdcage and you might get 2 seeds out of it and start multiplying your dragonfruit seeds.

Make a razorblade and shave beefalos in the night. Make a campfire near them and when they fall asleep you can shave them safely. It provides you with wool for a cuddly hat during winter. Never kill beefalos, they are your friends  :D
Your baselocation should also bee near them so you can collect poop regularly.

I'll write more stuff later!!

Surviving my first winter. Must say, im holding out quite well. Mainly thanks to the chests full of live rabbits and moster jerky im feeding to my bird for eggs. And the monstermeat just keeps on rolling from the nearby spidernest.

If i remember correctly,
they fix the rabbits being able to live in chests in the dlc, it makes things impossibly harder.

I'm at day 100+... I have more food than I can consume and it spoils all the time... I sleep through nights in my tent to burn down some food and get hungry. Doesnt help. Still too much. I planted some spider dens and they grew to tier 3, then hatching 2 spider queens. They followed me for about 3 days through the whole map with countless spiders as retinue, wasnt able to defeat them. At the beginning of my escape I grabbed food at my base and lured them to a pig village. I fed all the pigs with monster meat and went on a crusade vs 2 spider queens with about 20 spiders behind them. In my log suit and armed with 3 spears we were able to defeat them. I used about 8 healing salves in this attempt.
Big is my glory but when I came back to my base nobody greeted me and cheered for me. Sad. I am still alone...

I figured that somehow they would definately fix that eventually cause the games whole point is to struggle and just stacking live animals in containers to avoid decaying kinda diminishes it. Still I couldnt help myself, had to abuse.

oh of course, lol, i did the exact same thing, until i died always doing something stupid, like fucking around with penguins, or getting killed by fire.

I would highly recommend the dlc, as it just makes things much more difficult, as well as adding in summer, which creates its own mess of problems.  As well as a crapload of content.
