What I really hated on skyrim was leveling.
Lvl 1-5 everything could kill you.
Lvl 5-10 you are feeling like a boss obliterating everything.
Lvl 15-20 every bandit you encounter is killing you.
Lvl 20-25 back on horse.
Lvl 25 - .. first encounter with ancient dragon... die horrible in first fireball...
..seeking for some leveling mod :(

What is this good for this leveling only for nice feeling of higher lvl number?

At least bandits don't have full glass armor sets on them like in oblivion.
Why to be bandit when one can sell his armor and live like lord :?

I'm a firm believer in TES, but ffs combat needs an overhaul. They overhauled magic for skyrim and bows could be fun sometimes, but melee was autistic. If you've ever played Morrowind, you can see that the only thing that has changed from 2002 to 2011 in melee is that when you hit something, it actually hits it now.

I'm waiting for Witcher III.

Ok forgive me risen fans, for I have sinned. I haven't actually played it so shouldn't have slagged it off, but to be fair from footage ive seen I just assumed it was terrible. maybe i'll check it out, still doubt it will compare to TES.

It's weird, I didn't played it that long but Risen doesn't seem that terrible. It has nice actual open world elements in it.

Well, when one is talking about Gothic, one usually means Gothic I and II. Fuck fancy graphic when you got a huge open world filled with ruthless, deadly enemies whom will rape your sorry, white ass if you try to act hard, and noone will be there to hold your hand, telling you what to do, nothing is handed to you for free. Gothic I and II is those kind of games where you really feel like you've accomplished something when you beat em. And it got a sweet combat system.

Yeah, gothic 2 was pretty hard. But holy shit NOTR was hardcore. I cant remember how many times I died because my opponent got a lucky critical :D

Anyways, there is probably no point in telling new-gen kids how much has the development quality standtard detoriated over the course of gaming history, because they simply dont know any better.

Jup, Gothic was very good. Gothic 3 did suck, but one thing that it did, that was kinda awesome was the way you could liberate the enslaved human population from the orcs. At first merging into the town, gaining the orcs trust and than betraying them. After you liberated like 2 towns by betraying the local overlords trust the rest of the towns could only be liberated by an instant townwide fight cause word got out through the world that you are a traitor.

Risen is OKAY, just don't expect it to bring anything unpredictable or revolutionary to the table.

If you sit down with such expectations, you'll enjoy it I promise.

Risen 2, on the other hand...

I started playing for the first time two days ago. My impression: awesome.

I really thought I would hate it. I quit Oblivion after 3 hrs of playing, never played Morrowind, I HATED Fallout 3 (not New Vegas though).

But I enjoy Skyrim immensly! Just like in almost all RPG-s I play, I play as mage and I love it! Especially dual casting! Building of skills is slow, and I don't want to search the Internet for loopholes and exploits, but I love every minute of it. I can't wait the evening and my next gaming session.

And yeah, I am not playing on PC, I am playing on PS3 lying on a couch like a boss.

I mean, what have you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing, what have you lost? Nothing!

One simply does not play Vanilla Skyrim
(click to show/hide)

Get popular mods (at least for a better inventory (SkyUI) and stronger dragons. Maybe some environment upgrades for the eyecandy) and then play it

Main story isn´t that strong, but that´s not what people really cared about. They mostly cared about the open world and the sidequests. And Skyrim is all about sidequests.
And that´s a good thing. Run around, make your own story.

TL;DR: Skyrim is not a good game and it's not a bad game it's average... but it's addictive. The thing that made Skyrim playable was the soundtrack, the audio is the only thing that makes this game replayable. I love the audio, ambient sounds and music of the game!

Modded vs. unmodded TES games:
Unmodded:
Skyrim was "good" for about 40 hours
Oblivion was "good" for about 5 hours
Morrowind is still "good" after 200+ hours

Modded:
Skyrim is decent enough to casually play, but you'd better be in a "completionist" mindset, the goal being to complete quests, complete  faction questlines etc. the quests, combat or rewards themselves are meh

Oblivion... is unplayable without mods... and after installing mods I just stacked potions and rushed through main quest being relieved that it was all over when done... it was still... bad with 30+ mods.

Morrowind doesn't need no mods! Vanilla is awesome!

And for all you modders out there... after finding nexusmods page this is the danger of all those mods...
