Overheating sucks, I have the same problem with my laptop. Insanly frustrating.
The geniuses at Acer made an "intelligent" coolingsystem. Only it is always a few steps behind, only going max fanspeed when it is too late.
And to make sure noone would interfere with it by setting fans on max always, they installed a custom BIOS with no fanspeedcontrol.
A brutal by working solution is to throw your computer in the freezer when close to overheating. But I am pretty sure it will get damaged over time.
