okay don't get me wrong, but at 5:20, the way he says "you and I, are gonna tear shit up" gives me a huge boner. especially the way he says "I", hoarsely, it gives me goosebumps

If you really liked Far Cry 3 then this is a save bet. So why not pre-order?

Guess it became hip thing to bash all big publishers now? Hmm... maybe it was before and I didn't notice... probably just me...
Only Indie is cool now :(

Guess I'll bay it too. Steam recently started accepting payments in TL only to double screw us. Prices are even more outrageous now.

Why pre-order? I can get the game and all DLC cheaper than the pre-order if I just wait this out. Furthermore, if you think a good predecessor and nice videos is all it takes to make a good game then your memory is short.

Because it's from Ubisoft.  If Watchdogs and AssCreed: Unity are any indication they just don't give a fuck about actually finishing their games before they sell them.   It's best to wait and see with Ubisoft.  Even if that means you miss out on the pre-order bonuses.

(click to show/hide)

In FC3 you play a spoiled, American rich kid, some random teenage boy on an expensive vacation. In FC2 you play any number of grizzled mercenaries from 90s real world African conflicts, like a forty-something former Serbian paratrooper veteran of the Yugoslav Wars, a former IRA Irishman and barfighter, a 38-year old Algerian ex-navy guy, or Xianyong Bai, a Chinese contraband smuggler and later informant for the Federal Intelligence Agency in Pakistan, all with their quirks, all with their history, all marred in some fashion. This difference alone is symbolical for the differences between the two games. At least FC1, which was pretty great, and Blood Dragon were intentionally corny and cliché. Often it felt to me as if Blood Dragon was the vent through which the FC3 developers let off their steam about the toothlessness of the main game.

I'm afraid FC4 will be more like FC3 than FC2, so far it looks like it.

I really want to try FC4 but I am a bit hesitant of paying 60 bucks for it

I think I will "try it" before I buy it

FC3 also gotta have the most sickeningly bad, two dimensional characters I've yet seen in a PC game. The teenage boy player character's incessantly whines and moans like some little drama queen, even when skinning his 1000th animal, or killing his 1000th enemy.
Oh god, this. It was so fucking annoying and unrealistic. FC3 was very flat and two dimensional as a whole, nothing about it was very exciting.
Meaning lies as much
in the mind of the reader
as in the Haiku.

Far Cry 2 did so many things right. Graphics were great, weapon system was fun, shooting mechanics were pretty cool and the best thing was the atmosphere that it had. Africa felt damp and sweaty as hell. There were so much cool new things that few FPS had done before. Too bad they put in so much crappy repetitive gameplay of which everyone and their mother could grasp that it was a poor idea. It's like the first Assassin's Creed, all this cool innovation and great atmosphere, but mucking it up with the terrible repeating missions. Still Far Cry 2 is my favourite Far Cry and Assassin's Creed my favourite Assassin's Creed. Sequels made the games far better gameplay design wise, but lost a lot of character and convincing atmosphere.
