Are there any confirmed changes in comparison to old school WoW?

Something about loot trading in dungeons if I recall.

The entire classic WoW thing just seems doomed from the start, even if it's good. Splitting up the playerbase and devs, and if they don't update at all there are going to be tons of annoyances and staleness, and if they do then it's not going to be classic WoW soon. Or are people just hoping to get a month or two of nostalgia out of it?

Good shit. Sooner than I expected. Not sure if I'll dive into it on release due to my time constraints, but it is nice to see something that was a good part of my high school years come alive again.

Are there any confirmed changes in comparison to old school WoW?

Well theyre using "layers" for the launch, so that a realm will have 3 layers with something like 3k people in each, that merges together after a month or so to make realms not die when the tourists leave, kind new i suppose but its nothing thats permanent.
Loot trading may be added, im not sure its confirmed yet. Making you able to trade raid loot after you recieve it for a certain amount of time to other raid members, just to clear up the issue of giving items to the wrong player, so its just to make it easier on the GM's.

Other than that not really, the schedule for patch releases is new i guess, for a month or so we wont have a pvp rank system or any battlegrounds so theres no incentive to pvp outside of just world pvp fuckery, which can be enjoyable on its own.

The entire classic WoW thing just seems doomed from the start, even if it's good. Laughs in OSRS. That one literally surpassed the new Runescape in playerbase. Split perhaps, but there are tons of people coming back for vanilla specifically. It takes about a month or so to get level 60 on a normal pace if im not mistaken, a bit more probably since the in game /played time is usually 11 days for 60. Progressing raid content takes a couple of months per, and it wont all be released at launch.

OSRS still adds content too, and people like it. Classic devs have not mentioned adding anything, but it wouldnt count it out depending on community input.

The reception of classic through the beta has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

(click to show/hide)

Amongst others. Mind you this is just the leveling, even people critical to the nostalgia of going back thinking it will be a slob and boring grind these days. Some of the major streamers who reached the current beta level cap (30) had some large ass battles happen at a high level are where they farm material for an incredibly strong warrior class quest weapon, which can be gotten at 30 but is on par with lvl 40 weapons.
https://www.twitch.tv/asmongold/clip/ViscousAbstemiousBatBloodTrail

Because the mobs are high level they need the groups/raids to even do the quest currently, and so of course, people will also want to come in and fight (especially when its the largest streamer getting the weapon). Its fun to watch even at a gimped max level 30, people find things to do. A duel tournament will be held soon, im thinking warriors will dominate with their insane weapon, but its really hard to tell.

Warriors are as spooky as their gear is, so quite likely warrior will dominate then

What's the draw of WoW for you? I've genuinely tried to understand it by watching streams, but the combat looks so dreadfully boring and obviously the graphics and the quests aren't exactly top-notch in 2019.

For me it's purely nostalgia and the fact that the MMO scene is pretty much dead at the moment. Whether that'll be enough for me to actually play Classic WoW, I don't know yet.

PVP/Raid endgame. As for leveling it is as with any other good RPG, it feels rewarding, like you are progressing as your character. I've never understood why graphics would matter, and while the combat is slow, you still need to make decisions and play safe unless you want to die and corpse run constantly. It often forces you to team up with people, which is fun. It feels like a world, and you get immersed quite quickly.

True, but without max talents im not sure how well they are geared towards CC. Warriors alone struggle with other classes, but warrior with pocket healers are gods. So in duels, im expecting casters like frost mages or perhaps warlocks, maybe even hunters to be winning.
