Mine were ~£100 5 or 6 years ago. Your mileage may vary of course. Its just something I've found myself - its not just spending more money, its buying from company's that specialise in audio equipment rather than mice, keyboards and whatever else. Plus I would rather spend money on that than other peripherals

buy cheapest headset you can buy... I like the one that came with my PS3... Sure it broke more than once... but the things are so simple a monkey could repair it. Just open it up and sauter it back together and viola... good as refurbished.
And the foam earpeie cover ripped in half and kept falling off, so I sewed it together with one of those tiny sewing kits with the small scissors 

If you only use a headset for voice chat, this is what I'd recommend. I've been using this ps3 usb headset for like 5 years.


It's kind of like cheap sunglasses... They last forever and you never lose them, but then you go out and buy a pair of 100$ ray bans... and within a year you lose them somewhere.

Got Fatalitys, mic died 3 times got 2 new ones from the store on a guarantee ended up selling them, Siberias were awesome but started to creak over time, Plantronics 377 most comfortable over ear headset mic died 2 times.

After all that and some random ones in between and because of my freshly pierced ears I decided to use Sennheiser ear buds and a mic on the desk, I'm now on over a year on the same setup and works great.

There's more to headphones than lifetime.

I'd go for a Sennheiser, Beyerdynamics or any other quality manufacturer if you want eargasm material. But for that investment to pay out you need a decent sound card and decently encoded music.

If you don't like headset, and you only want Headphones, i just bought the : YUIN PK2,
it's NOT IN EAR (so not destroying your hearing)
The prices are around 60€
If you want much better quality you can have : YUIN PK1 (much more expensive)

There is aswell YUIN PK3, (cheaper, but i have no idea about the quality)

If anything they drown out outside noise a little better so you can put your volume lower and still hear your music. In my bicycle horny country I mostly use earphones when bicycling and you can't hear shit over the wind unless you have in-ear earphones.

There's more to headphones than lifetime.

If you are a rich bastard, sure. Headphones is one of those areas where a tiny bit more costs a fortune, I have better purposes for my money. Seeing as Tore is like 15 he might not have 200 euros to shell out for something actually decent, although he is Norwegian.

Headphones always have been a danger to our hearing, if you listen to music with them too loudly for too long. But earbuds brought hearing loss to a whole new level because they don’t work to cancel out outside noise as well as regular headphones do. And because they fit inside your ear, they are blasting that loud music directly into your ear canal.

Earbuds enter the scene

So what kind of damage do earbuds do exactly?

The ears are delicate. When sound enters our ear, it causes the ear drum to vibrate. These vibrations then travel to the cochlea, where fluid carries them to fine hairs that stimulate auditory nerve fibers that travel to the brain and interpret the sound.

Hearing loss occurs when the hair cells inside our ears are destroyed. The damage is done when we listen to loud noises for a long time. With the invention of earbuds and portable music players that can hold lots of music and have a long battery life, more and more people are listening to loud music for hours. At what level is loud noise damaging to our hearing? Typically at 85 decibels, about the level of a hair dryer or a food processor.

Compared to traditional-style headphones that rest over the ear, earbuds can have a higher output level of sound by about 7-9 decibels. An audiologist at Wichita State University who pulled earbuds off students to find out how loud their music was discovered that most students were listening to music at 110-120 decibels, well over the recommended volume. At that level, loud noise can cause permanent hearing loss after just an hour and 15 minutes. With numbers like these, it’s no wonder that the number of teens with hearing loss has jumped 33 percent since 1994, according to a study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association.

So what to do if you want to preserve what hearing you may have left? If you are going to use earbuds, the American Auditory Society’s rule of thumb is 60/60 — to not listen for more than 60 minutes at a time at 60 percent of the maximum volume.
