That's a great goal, but he did that against Getafe, Maradona did it against the British national team in the World Cup.
First of all - he did it vs English World Cup team. Second - I think the quality of Getafe's defenders in 2013 (or so) is not very far from the average quality of any English defender back in 86'. It's not like Getafe guys are amateurs or something like that, they're all a bunch of well-shaped professionals. You can't compare football and players now and then but when you think of it - everything is similar but in modern times its x(insert number) the times as it used to be. Messi today is better than the rest of 'em more or less the same amount of times as Maradona was better than the rest of his contemporary opponents.
Maradona carried Napoli and the Argentinean team by himself.
No he didn't. He was a star player, a key player and all that but he still had 10 others to help him out. One wonder goal doesn't not win you any silverware on its own, it just makes sure you get remembered for it. Football is a team sport, always was and always will be. The need to constantly lift some guys above the rest is typical human's thing. Ofc - I don't need to explain that to a Yank now, do I ? With all your halls of fame, etc, etc.
