Argentina, Spain or Germany maybe. On paper they have great teams and should do well. Good discipline, good 1st team and good squads overall.

Many people I know suggest Brazil, but I've not seen a weaker Brazil squad since I started paying attention to international football. Their midfield is pretty gash and their forwards, while very good at their best, flatters to deceive. Their defense looks very strong on paper though. Being at home will help them, but winners? I don't think they have the quality to do it.
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

My favorites (beside Croatia, obviously) will definitely be the Greeks - a bunch of untalented bearded maniacs who overcome their lack of skill & talent via some great discipline, teamwork & work rate. Its easy to play football vs the best teams when you know how to do it, try playing it when you're a useless noob like them.  8-)

Brazil doesn't have strong on paper defense. Brazil has by far the best defenders on the tournament. Marcelo is the reason why Real managed to win in the final. Dante is probably the best centre-half in the world. Miranda is very close and the main reason why Real didn't score earlier. When he got super tired with rest of the team, Real managed to score 3 times. Everybody knows how good is Dani Alves. Thiago Silva is just as good as Miranda and Dante. Basically, Brazil can play with five defenders and nobody will be able to score against them. I hope their coach knows that. Midfield is mostly Chelsea but that doesn't mean they are weak. Strikers are good.

A bunch of injuries on the German team lately.
Personally, I'd be surprised if Germany makes it into the quarter finals.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

Exactly. I used to hate them like everyone else but then, a few years later, I saw the light: their achievement is even greater for the fact that they're a bunch of untalented fringe players, they had so much more to overcome than the rest of the teams. Other had stars, expensive players, talented players, play-makers, technicians, free-kick specialists, runners, world class goalkeepers, brilliant goalscorers, pacey wingers, etc, etc while the Greeks had nothing but teamwork & discipline with a little touch of German tactics. They won, others did not. I know it won't happen again but you can't deny me the joy of supporting that wild bunch, I see 'em as the Bandits of football.  8-)

My favourites are in this order Brazil, Spain, Argentina

Sadly Germany will probably not play a big role in this tournament. They have problems at too many positions.

Goalkeeper: Neuer has a shoulder injury and may not be able to recover in time. Weidenfeller though is a pretty good backup.
Centre Back: Hummels, Boateng, Mertesacker - no problems here
Right-Back: Lahm probaly will play in midfield so Großkreutz will play - solid player but nothing spectacular
Left-Back: Probably Schmelzer - probably the weakest link in the German team. He just lacks quality.
Defensive Midfield: Schweinsteiger and Khedira both had knee injuries and probably won't be any near their normal form. Lahm is also lightly injured. Lars Bender won't be able to play at the world cup. That leaves Kroos as the only fit player at that position. Huge problems.
Offensive Midfield: Lots of quality options and tremendous depth: Özil, Reus, Müller, Götze, Schürrle, Podolski
Forward: an aging Klose (36years old) and a tottally inexperienced Volland. I guess they will just play without a real striker.

messi italy and england. belgium looks cool, but meh, don't really like them :/ seriously watchin messi dribbling people is just, wow. ronaldo and co may have more skills, but noone has ever had the ball control messi has, noone in history. i've seen many going tackling him thinking "yep, it's mine" and then seeing the ball disappear, he's just beyond human. also can score from everywhere, monster; a joy to watch.

Dante the best centre half in the world? I would have to disagree on that.

Also, they can't field Miranda, Thiago Silva and Dante in defense, Leshma. Scolari deemed Miranda not good enough, so maybe we'll see that clown Luiz instead (40 million pounds, WTF). He also used to pick Lucas Leiva over Fernandinho until last call-up. Really. visitors can't see pics , please register or login
