Aren't you essentially just complaining about the risks inherent in all auctions though? Clearly not everyone can win the auction, so the only difference between what has occurred, and what would have occurred, is instead of some 27 participants ending in disappointment, 28 did. Furthermore, the motives behind many people's desires which lead them to such extremes, were deplorable, to say the least.

Guy got hired to buy the Katana with cRPG money in exchange for real world money, which is NOT nor will it ever be, acceptable in cRPG.

Now, should there been a post about the cancelled auction from our part? In hindsight, undoubtedly yes. There were communication errors regarding what would happen when the auction was cancelled in such a way as it was. It was thought that the money would go back to the owners and the whole thing would reset itself. Clearly this did not happen. Our friendly morale officer Harald will sort this mess soon enough, though.

The whole thing is a hoot really. I do think though that Toage and those guys probably shouldn't be punished. It's kind of obvious that a number of players have been or are buying looms with real dosh but with the language barrier etc they should just be warned. I mean Toage openly stated that he was paying for it with real money while talking in the irc channel trying to talk with devs. I think he honestly doesn't realise that it's banable to under take said activity. Only a crazy person would no something was against the rules and then walk up to the rule keepers and be all "so I'm going to fart in your face now, cheers."

When it comes to an individual doing anything they possibly can to acquire something (or achieve something); what's worse, Eastern Europe mentality, or Chinese mentality?
