To put things into context; how much actual money is changing hands with "skins betting"? Here's the total bet amount for just the First Day of MLG Aspen: https://twitter.com/csgolounge/status/558882058651856896

Yes, 4.477.231$

Not talking peanuts.

Crazy amounts. Haven't seen any stats like this for Dota2 but it probably has an even higher number.

Top NA players ruined their careers for some skins. Very smart of them, especially considering they'd make more from being third on some small tournament.

not sure, dota2 currency and prices of individual items don't really compare to csgo, but there's perhaps more bets in dota

Some couriers are worth a lot of money (record 38,000$ or something), but those are more for collectors, not bettors.

Betting on these matches can actually be very profitable (and fun!), because the odds are based on what people bet and not set by the bookies.

It seems this picture describes the bulk of my match making.

Gogo nip, i dont bet often, and i dont even play the game atm, but bring me this one victory and i shall start again! Cant even watch streams so i have no clue what teams are playing well and not, this production value on tournament = garbage.

I was blind but now i see. Now there's no turning back, lost value so got to bet the rest on underdogs titan vs envy. Atleast titan has been winning some. fuck swedish nip my old friendits

Went all in with the remains i had on Titan vs Envy, 38% or something on titan, easy money. Made back my losses.

When in doubt, bet against NiP. They seem to always have way too high percentage because of all the fanboys.

This one day tournament was great though. Made 2100 usd overall :)

Do you actually cash that out or do you use it in steam? It's genuinely impressive either way.

I haven't cashed out yet. Might do at some point, but from what I can tell it seems to be a pain in the ass.
