From the highlight videos it seems like the recoil thing is just as stupid as it was in 1.6, aim at the ground to hit someone's head. Wonder why they insist on keeping an ancient engine limitation as a "feature"

That is only when you spray tbh. Burst control is pretty much spot on (depending on the weapon used).

Yes you can surf in CS:GO. Dunno about Zombie mode tho, never really liked it so I havnt looked it up.

Zombie is shit, like in source i believe.

1.6 had some great modes like zombie plague, where you'd get ammo packs from dealing certain damage to zombies, and if you were good enough you could buy a jetpack+bazooka which just destroys zombies. Zombies ofcourse also having stuff they can buy for the packs to counter jetpacks or camping humans.
I wonder why no one ever made these for source or GO..

I don't play Go but Source and 1.6 have spray patterns and you can move the mouse to counter the movements. With a colt a good player can get a tight grouping even when spraying. The main skill people need to learn though is stopping and bursting at the head. If you are stationary the first shot will always hit where you aim with a rifle, so you tap the movement key the opposite of how you're moving so you stop instantly, aim at the head and start a burst. If you miss the headshot with the first shot the follow up shots might hit if you pull down and control the recoil. Then you can move while the gun's accuracy resets then stop and burst again

Up close its a bit different, but you still want to stop and aim at the head then burst or spray while controlling the recoil

This is kind of why the game is so popular. You have people trying to master stuff like I put, and alongside that you have people spraying and praying and hitting random headshots, or running and gunning with SMG's or shotguns. Its fun at all skill levels
If you have ranged troubles use this:

Indeed, CS has its own spray patterns. You can definitely learn to control them, and they do require skill etc, not saying they don't. It's just annoying for anyone who's not a long-time CS player, it takes a lot of time to learn it properly and it's not very intuitive at all.

Case in point: http://twowordbird.com/articles/csgo-recoil-mechanics/

To say something positive though, the competitive matchmaking has been pretty awesome when I've tried it. Very close to casual scrims I did in CoD1, people actually try semi-hard and stuff, very different from pub

Easiest way of spray control used to be a constant rather slow downward motion and moving with the target, staying a little ahead of it.
Tho at a certain skill level spray rarely helps when you missed the headshot

Remove the s from https or use the link under share (in this case http://youtu.be/9WV1-AklbEQ ).
I'd play, but I haven't played CS in years and I suspect that I would be just a sitting duck
