Wait... there are some weird ass level DotaWoW things now? o.O

Master Guardian 2? What the flying fuck?

Wacraft cs has existed for a loong time if thats the one you mean. It's shit in source though and i dunno if its the same i GO.

Master guardian 2 is just a rank decided through your skill level/win rate i believe. (not related to warcraft cs)

No, I do know the RPG server. Didn't know they made kind of stuff something official.

Kinda shocking. Big appeal of CS was to me that there wasn't any bullshit around. Just hop on a server, play, be done with it. Or as I mostly did: organize a pcw, have a nice 5on5 and then fool around on public till you get kicked for winning rounds solo just with a glock :D

Well original CS for HL1 was fantastic, personally I also enjoyed CS Source too, but this game I can barely force myself to play for more than 15 minutes. It feels like even more of an arcade version of CS which is surprising considering how arcadey the other games already are. Feels like it's trying to be the Quake of terrorist FPS's and I just can't really stand it.

I played 1.6 competitive and when Source came, we already had lazy days in the team. We decided to switch to Source and just... play it... still competitive but more on a fun basis with less training, playing the little leagues and cups. Source is fun, looks better than 1.6, less pain on the eye but it takes less personal skill too. Not necessarily on tactics and teamplay, nor on reflexes and long range shots but everything close quarter rewards spray 'n pray way too much. And the netcode issues at the start of Source killed it too. Not playing the expensive tick 100 server was pain in the ass... those starting problems killed Source before it even had a chance. Valve screwed themselves developing server patches at Valve time.
Otherwise Source could have been great for CS...

Haven't touched CS for years, even with my old clan buddies we play other games from time to time. Afaik none of us got GO, not even tried it once.

It's not official in anyway. What tobi was refering to is ranks, which you get from winning matchmaking.

WCS is only on custom servers.

Those CS ones are actually stylish and not as cheesy.

It's ranks for competitive matchmaking. Competitive = somewhat serious 5v5 games, that give you rating and stuff. One of the cooler features, along with official gungame and CS:DM gamemodes.

I bought CS:GO on a sale with ALL of the cs games for £5, Ive made something like £13 selling items I got in it. So it cost me -8 squid, go own it already. cs:go is awesome, this is 5v5 about actual skill not like those MOBA trash games.

CS:GO is the first counterstike I played since I used to be a consolemy old friend, I basically just went straight into matchmaking with no knowledge and just picked it up, I've barely played any death-match where pros and try-hards like to practise. And I still managed to rank up from silver to "master guardian II"  8-)

I'm never going to catch up with certain players who have been playing CS all day since the 90s tho. edit: so yeah kind of lost interest a bit

CS:GO did well with the ranks and ranked matchmaking, imo. Every modern competitive game should have it.

The skill cieling is REALLY low compared to games like CS and SC, I dont care if 7 billion people disagree with me. sure there is abit of macro or even abit of aim required on some heros, but its mostly just grind/knowhow/teamwork. very little skill.

CS:GO did well with the ranks and ranked matchmaking, imo. Every modern competitive game should have it.

yup my only gripe with go's is that its best of 30, with no option to concede unless a teammate abandons. so when you get really one sided teams and lose 16:2, you have to grind through 18 rounds of awp vs pistols.

there actually is ADS on some weapons,

but actually crouching with any gun in CS is basically same effect as ADS, but I agree that its more arcade-y and doesn't feel as realistic as actually aiming down the sights.

I do crave a realistic tactical shooter, insurgency is trying to be just that and its good, but flawed and has no ranked matchmaking
