Where would you go if your country/state had a disaster?

Was just wondering, what if the borders of safe asylum and danger change? The possibility of some kind of national disaster or trouble could happen anywhere. How would you want to be treated if the safest place for you to be was a neighbouring country?

I don't really know what kind of disaster is likely to happen here, and where I'd want to flee. But I'd hope there would be somewhere safe to go. It's easy not to think about it when I'm safe and sound, but I've been thinking about it more recently. Where would I turn? And would I be able to get there?

I would get called in for the catastrophe relief effort, and I would most likely perish in the ensuing cataclysm.

Of course if I was to ignore the call of duty I would probably make my way down to alpine territory and enjoy the benefits of my Austrian citizenship.

Then again spending the rest of my days in the vast forest 100 yards from my house feels oddly compelling.
