Looks pretty nice. I decided to back because one of the developers said that he was disappointed in the latest SimCity and he wants to make things better. Not to mention that the project already looks nice and the ideas behind it sound promising and fun.

Saying you are disappointed with SimCity is like saying you like chocolate. It doesn't really mean much.

Besides, this looks more like a good Spore than an actual city builder.

Granted, that's a pretty common statement. He said a bunch of more stuff, in his defence, which I don't remember any more :P

Nonetheless, I like the idea behind it. Several ages of development in mankind on the planet, at some point the resources are out, you go to another planet, start there. The other planets are procedural created, different "animals", some more aggressive than others. Different weather zones on the planets, different seasons which can be differently hard/long/effecting on the planet. It sounds pretty complex when you read about it. I can be good, I hope it's gonna be good :)

This actually looks awesome!

Spore bored me a bit, and been waiting for ages now for a game like this.
For all the non-believers, look no further than this thread for proof that while strat battles are won/lost in NA3/EU3, strat wars are won and lost on the forums.

Choices such as encouraging or discouraging wars, unleashing natural disasters... I wonder what consequences would those have? Will going all pacifist prevent you from researching military technology? Or not unleashing natural disasters make the civilization less resistant to them?

I hope there will be a point to maintaining a balance of "good" and "bad" things. Derp disasters are just a missed opportunity to represent other dangers like overpopulation.

Well, there will be other issues you can't control but you got to deal with.
I don't remember if it was a video or an article where they talked about it but...

...the seasons will have different impacts on the planet. For example, a normal winter is 3 months but it can happen that a winter takes 5 instead. You'll have issues with food reserves, crops not having enough time during the short spring/summer to grow and other "natural" disasters you'll need to react to.

About wars, I dunno. I do know they'll implement "Aliens" coming to your planet. That would be a war that you can't avoid. So, going all friendly might not work cuz they shove a military conflict up your arse that way :D

The whole idea has potential and I'm curious to see how it pans out. Money wise it looks good for them, I guess. Few days to go, main percentage of money reached, the last days on Kickstarter are always the busiest. Looking good for a successful campaign.

Ideally, balancing the amount of wars and natural disasters would lead to different ways of development, each with its strengths and weaknesses.

Afterall, you can't develop any sort of military technology and ability, without having done war.
