The weather was odd James noted as he awoke on the day of the tournament. Foggy, and then not foggy, seemingly changing minute to minute. Pondering whether this would affect the fighters James went down to the tournament grounds where the melee would occur. Silently James noted the different sygils from across the land. The banners of several powerful houses could be seen. Houses and factions bearing the names Chaos, Chevaliers, Frisia, MurderBoner, Squid, Order of the Saints, and The Knights of Mars had banners that could be seen waving in between those of the Kingdom of Acre and The Scottish Rebels. It seems the tournament had a strong draw, bringing warriors from across the realm. Certainly a time of general peace was a good time for tournaments James thought. The King noted as well that the tournament had brought in a variety of elite mercenaries and sellswords.
Having himself been eliminated in the earliest possible occasion the King was able to sit back in his tent consuming various wines and ales. Looking down on the fighting James was quite pleased with the performance of his men and also wonderfully impressed by the overall level of skill. As the rounds progressed It came down to a final group of 8 fighters. Crusaders Vex and Sivart would be fighting the reknowned Knights Allers and Miley. As well the Elite fighters of House Squid Holiday and Skinboat would be fighting the other remaining Acre team Saint Joan of Acre and Champion Knightmare.
As the battles raged on with the clang of swords and the screams and grunts of men the final came down to Allers and Miley against Saint Joan and Knightmare. Both sides elected to wear very heavy armors and use gruesome weapons. The fighting was fierce, sparks and shards of metal could be seen flying off the fighting Knights. Both sides it was evident had access to an excellent armoury and blacksmith services. Surely either side would have been ruined were it not for a Knightly level of armament. Being that both sides were well equipped the fight was one to be remembered. As time went on the Acre squad however became overwhelmed by the famous Knights from afar. Eventually after a tiring duel the yield was secured by the two brothers Allers and Miley. The victors proceeded to shake hands with the Acre squad and the tournament melee was finished. James then went on to award a chest laden with gold to each of the top 3 finishing teams.
After having awarded the prizing King James went to the podium to speak a few words to the fighters and crowd that had joined to watch the tournament "Hello Lords and Ladies, good people of Calradia, I stand here today priviledged to witness this wonderful tournament. Let us rejoice that none have been gravely wounded this day. The fray was fierce and the fighting exciting, let us all feast and be merry in the halls of Nova Curaw. For no man will say that on the day of this tournament he went hungry or without ale! To the great hall!". With that said the king motioned the crowds and fighters to the Gates of Nova Curaw. As he rode back into the town James pondered the next few tournaments he would organize, perhaps a 64 person single combat melee with greater prizing, and perhaps a tournament for the ranged fighters to find he who could split the arrow or bolt. "Austin write this down please" the king spoke to his squire as he outlined the tournaments he wished to hold in the coming weeks.
Placing in the event finished as such:
1st Place and 100k Crpg Gold : Allers and Miley
2nd Place and 65k Crpg Gold : Saint and Knightmare
3rd Place and 35k Crpg Gold : Holiday and Skinboat!
