i found out my ram is obsolete.
need suggestion of a good brand like kingston , corsair and i found out this G-Skill ones.
I need 8 Gb (4Gbx2) DD3 at 1600Hz

ps : don't know exactly what Latency do , it's related to the timings? (fuck i'm googling it )
and don't know if the low  voltage is a good thing or not.

which are the most performant?

thanks!

edit: got i5 intel chipset (win 7 32) and my only use is gaming/photoshop , anything related to 3d and video editing

sorry if the links are in italian but you could figure out what's the specifics in there :9

I can only say that I have been using 2 x 4GB CORSAIR XMS3 for 2 years now, and they are still working. So at least you can put a "+" next to Corsair product's durability. Was my first branded set of RAM, and i have no regrets!

EDIT:

They sell XMS on that page you are using too :) though i am in no way an expert - when i assemble a new PC, i just nerd Tom's Hardware charts, and compare quality/ratings VS my budget...

First, get more than 8Gb.
Second, with two sticks you usually have to install them in slots 1 and 3, not 1 and 2. Remember that.
Third, typical DDR3 @1600 is good enough.
Fourth, I think low nominal voltage is good if you want to OC, because that lets you bring it up more without bricking your pc. But if you want to OC your RAM you should consider buying better sticks instead anyway.

If that helps, here's a good article on the set I use: http://wccftech.com/review/g-skill-ripjwas-x-4gbxm-review-built-for-sandybridge/

Whatever you do, don't cheap out on your RAM. I've got 2 x 4gb 1866 Crucial, but I was able to pick it up at an electronics store for $40. I'd say to get 1600 at least. If you really don't know what you want, Corsair usually pulls through. I haven't had a single problem with my Crucial, though.

First, get more than 8Gb.

Is this the standard now? To get more than 8?

Oh dear, my PC is so obsolete.

First, get more than 8Gb.

Why would anyone need more than 8gb unless in some specific profession? Even 4 is enough.

Win7 32bit = at most 4GB usable. Anything over that is useless.

Why would anyone need more than 8gb unless in some specific profession? Even 4 is enough.

If you don't have an SSD, it would be smart to turn off paging and apply some patches for certain applications which can't work without page file.

Also, you can run multiple browsers, virtual machines, games... without a single hiccup (provided your CPU isn't shit).

Oh dear, my PC is so obsolete.

More than 8Gb is not necessary to the average pc gamer, but it's more comfortable. I have been hitting memory problems even just by being creative while multitasking. 4Gb leaves you with very little margin though, and some games will not run properly alongside the usual background processes if you only have 4Gb. It's pretty much not enough nowadays.

but...don't know if 16Gb of RAM is using all the ram with my win 7 32bit and gaming...btw you suggest to buy 2xRipjwas-x @8GB each?

First, check if you can install a 64 bit OS, that will allow you to use more than 4Gb. Unless your pc is older than you, you should be able to. Then if you are tight on budget you should weight the price of more RAM against new gpu etc. the stuff you want to do like image and video editing is memory-intensive before anything else though. So if you want to improve that, buying more RAM is the way to go.

One last thing : be extremely wary of mixing different sticks together. Your PC won't kaboom if you do, but you will very probably get horrible performance.
EDIT : actually in the worst case you might get a blue screen if the sticks are completely incompatible.

Nah you don't need more than 8gigs, unless you want to wave you e-peen

I'm running 8gb Mushkin Blackline @1866 for almost 3 years now, still don't feel the need for another 8gigs.

And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works

bah , went to a store , all they had were shitty brands that i don't trust , must buy online at this point.
in reply to cmpx , i know but i want to image editing without any performance issue when i'm getting the graphic tablet (when i got the money or when i see a good offer for an old wacom , not the new ones) , yes it's not 3d nor video editing but i notice some problems when i try to apply some effects.
@kafein: i don't really want to change my OS , if it was for me i'd install Linux (too bad for gamers tho) but it's not affected by these microsoft dependance.

anyway thanks all , getting 2 good 4Gb @1600Hz like those i posted and gg :)

Question - are you running a 32bit operating system? Because, if you are, then, like cmpx said, you won't benefit from anything above 4gb.

You literally won't use any amount over 4gb on win32 (it doesn't utilize any amount over 4); Don't buy above 4gb unless you plan on upgrading your OS.
